For a business team building experience, I booked an amazing cooking class with Dakar Jollof! To start, I made all the arrangements via WhatsApp from the USA. It was perfect!! I worked directly with Naima, owner of Dakar Jollof, to set up our cooking adventure and she made everything so easy. We had 9 cooks (one was ill the day of the class), which was several more cooks than their normal cooking class accommodates, our event needed to happen outside of Dakar Jollof's normal business hours, and we had a vegan cook! Naima was able to seamlessly make it all work out. The teacher chefs were a lovely group of women who made us feel at home, like we were part of their Senegal family. When it was time to eat what we created, everyone loved their Jollof rice dishes! Highly recommend!!

Description
This culinary experience is one of a kind! It’s non touristy and allows you to indulge in the Senegalese culture, experiencing authentic interactions with the locals,while creating a delicious dish and drinks with exotic flavors. If you are a solo traveler and book this cooking experience the minimum guests required to join the group is 3,if we have other guests that book on the same date as yours then there’s going to be availability,but if there’s less than 3 people that book on your date we will have to amend your dates or you will have to cancel.

Perfect Group Event!

Highly recommend
We had such a great time in this cooking class. It was such a great opportunity to meet new people, experience a new culture, and try new foods. What we really walked away with was a huge amount of respect for the women in Senegal, who spend their time cooking in kitchens, whether in restaurants or for their families. It’s hard work, but very rewarding! We thoroughly enjoyed this experience and would happily book again and would love to try another dish. You will walk away with lots of leftovers!

Amazing cooking and friendly atmosphere
The experience was amazing. I joined a group of 6 people and everybody has the full experience of the process of makingThieboudienne / jollof rice under the guide of the staff. The process was very smooth and people are very friendly. Environment was nice and the staff made a good arrangement for everything. The fee was a bit high at first, but adding translation and seeing the amount of food we got and ended up taking home, this is definitely worth it.

100% Recommend
This was such a unique and memorable experience. We got to prepare Thieboudienne entirely from scratch, making it far more than just a cooking class. It was immersive, culturally enriching, and incredibly fun. Our host was patient, welcoming, and made everyone feel included throughout the process. Being invited into such an important part of Senegalese culture was truly special. Highly recommend!

Great food, greater company
This was such a great experience and I'm so glad I decided to do a cooking class! I got to meet some amazing people in my group as well which made the day even better. I would definitely suggest you clear out you while afternoon so you have ample time to cook, talk and eat.

You get a very authentic cooking experience, cooking in a kitchen, preparing everything from scratch, and then plating it. The host and translator were very sweet and welcoming. The host explained each step of the process with us. I cooked the jollof rice with chicken. It was SO delicious, the seasonings, the flavors, it was one of the best meals that I had while in Senegal. This cooking class is a must do when visiting Senegal! 10/10, I would recommend.

Deeper Appreciation for the Meal
Great small group experience to learn about this traditional dish that is debated by many countries. Every step was explained well and was easy to follow regardless of your cooking experience. You do make a large portion per person, so come with an appetite and take the leftovers to share with others. Booking was simple and follow up communication was helpful.
