Authentic Cooking with Locals: Meal, Wine & Scenic Views

Our cooking experience with Rocco and Carla was THE highlight of our trip to Praiano! From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like friends in their home rather than guests at a cooking class. Everything was incredibly authentic. The ingredients came either from their own garden or were locally sourced, and many of the recipes had been passed down through generations of their family. Carla taught us to make pasta dough from scratch, showed us how to create different pasta shapes and how to make ricotta gnocchi. We even made a special dessert that Rocco ate as a child. Of course, there was also their homemade red and white wine! 🍷 We cooked, drank wine, laughed, and listened to stories about their family, food and traditions. An unexpected bonus was the other couples in our class. By the end, we all felt like friends! Sitting together afterward and enjoying the meal we had created made the experience even more special. This was so much more than a cooking class — it felt like spending an afternoon in an Italian home, sharing food, wine, family traditions and lots of laughter with new friends. We had an absolutely fantastic evening with Be Genuine in Praiano, taking an authentic Italian cooking class with Rocco and Carla. From the moment we arrived, Rocco and Carla were warm, engaging, and genuinely passionate about sharing their food, their traditions, and their love of Praiano. This felt like so much more than a cooking class, it was an experience. One of the things that made it particularly special was learning that many of the ingredients we used came directly from their small terrace farm right here in Praiano. They even produce their own wine and olive oil from the fruit grown on their property. It doesn't get much more authentic or local than that! The cooking itself was relaxed, hands-on, and a lot of fun. Rocco and Carla did a wonderful job of making everyone feel involved while sharing the stories and traditions behind the food. For us, this was exactly the kind of experience we were hoping to have on the Amalfi Coast ... great food, wonderful people, authentic Italian traditions, and a beautiful setting in Praiano. Highly recommended! If you're visiting Praiano and looking for an authentic Italian food experience rather than a typical tourist cooking class, put Be Genuine on your list. We had a lovely experience learning to cook pasta and gnocchi in an intimate class of 6 people. We got to choose from a few sauce options and pasta shapes. Very informarive, homely and welcoming experience overall.

Cooking class with Rocco and Carla was a great experience. We got to try local recipes with homegrown ingredients. It was a very traditional and family oriented experience that I would absolutely recommend!!

Super unique experience at a local family's outdoor kitchen, with amazing view of the Mediterranean. Homegrown, organic, and all super fresh. We learned how to make pasta and stuffed zucchini both were delicious. Rocco and his family are very hospitable and have lived and farmed their garden for 6 generations.

Rocco was truly great! If you’re looking to do a cooking class in the Amalfi area then I highly recommend him. At first I was expecting a cooking class with other groups but this was not the case. Rocco welcomes you to his own home and will give your group a true one on one experience. They are locals to the area and will show you what Italian really means. That may sound intimidating at first but that’s not the case. Rocco and his wife bring a personable experience you won’t forget.

You are welcomed in to their outdoor patio. Fun to get your hands a little messy making the pasta dough and then rolling out different kinds of pasta. And finally eating your work! So fun to have a small setting and visiting with our hosts and others on holiday. Do it!

It was amazing!!! The view from the outdoor kitchen was beautiful. It was so fun making pasta and the sauces that Roco’s wife made to go with the pasta were amazing. One of the best meals we had in Italy. Roco was so nice. He waited with us in Praiano to make sure our taxi showed up. Very kind!!! I highly recommend this cooking class.
