Areopagus (Mars Hill) is a prominent rock outcropping located northwest of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. Its English name is the Late Latin composite form of the Greek name Areios Pagos, translated "Hill of Ares". In classical times, it was the location of a court, also often called the Areopagus, that tried cases of deliberate homicide, wounding and religious matters, as well as cases involving arson of olive trees. Ares was supposed to have been tried by the gods on the Areopagus for the murder of Poseidon's son Halirrhothius (a typical example of an aetiological myth).

Kostas and Lazarus gave us a fantastic tour of Athens. Kostas is a retired teacher who shared great information and stories about each place we visited. They were also very flexible and made sure we saw what we were interested in, swapping out museums at our request, for example. We had two new friends at the end of the day. Highly recommend!
Arthur was one of the best tour guides we’ve had, very informative, friendly and accommodating. We will definitely book with him when we come back to Greece! Thanks again for a tons of fun!
Totti was excellent! She even climbed with us to the highest point in Greece! She also took us to a great restaurant! It was amazing!
Lazarus was a very good guide and driver! Thank you for the introduction to Athens. He was always on time as well! We had a great experience
We had the most amazing experience today. we took a 5 hour air conditioned van tour of Athens. We were very fortunate to have Kosta as our tour guide along with a really great driver, Lazarus. They took us to many sites such as the changing of the guard at the palace, showed us so many historical sites and museums, and of course took us to see the Acropolis and the Parthenon. Costa was so knowledgeable about Greece, it added so much to the tour! Our group had members with limited mobility and they made sure to accommodate our needs. I highly recommend this tour when visiting Athens.
It was wonderful touring at the end of a cruise. Our driver Lazarus was wonderful and our tour guide costas was extremely informative. We saw everything we wanted to see and either my wife’s mobility issue they were very very accommodating.
We had a great time with Golden Greece Tours! The staff was friendly and professional, we managed to see all the "must-see" spots of Athens. Thanks a lot :) !!!
Costas was a great guide (and our driver was fantastic). The day was not only informative but engaging as well. Learned fascinating history and contemporary Athens context. Highly recommended.
The most fantastic experience in years of travel. The whole time it felt like traveling with and old friend. Tour guide very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. Knows all the sites and more importantly, everyone knows him, so you get treated like family. I will come back with my daughters next time.
Tony and the Team at Golden Greece tours are amazing! We enjoyed the Athens tour so much that we scheduled a 2nd tour of Thermopylae with them and that tour was absolutely incredible as well! Cannot say enough great things about our drivers and guides! In particular, our driver (and Captain) Lazarus was so helpful, attentive, and thoughtful. We had missed some landmarks during our Athens tour (our fault, not Golden Greece tours fault) and Lazarus made time to take us on our way to the terminal). Also want to recognize our expert guide and teacher Costas who was somehow able to present a semester's worth of Greek history into a half day tour of Thermopylae! Absolutely the best tour ever! We learned so much about the history of Greece and how it ties into modern history and current events. We felt like old friends by the time our tour was over! Don't hesitate to book with Golden Greece Tours! You will not be dissappointed!
