Itinerary
The greatest and finest sanctuary of ancient Athens, dedicated primarily to its patron, the goddess Athena, dominates the centre of the modern city from the rocky crag known as the Acropolis. The most celebrated myths of ancient Athens, its greatest religious festivals, earliest cults and several decisive events in the city's history are all connected to this sacred precinct. The monuments of the Acropolis stand in harmony with their natural setting. These unique masterpieces of ancient architecture combine different orders and styles of Classical art in a most innovative manner and have influenced art and culture for many centuries. The Acropolis of the fifth century BC is the most accurate reflection of the splendour, power and wealth of Athens at its greatest peak, the golden age of Perikles.
Officially known as Hellenic Parliament or Vouli ton Ellinon, The Greek parliament building, which overlooks Syntagma Square, is a reminder of where the modern Greek state began. Every major political and official event has occurred in front of this important landmark since it was built in 1843, including the famous public revolt which occurred in September that year, against King Otto’s absolute monarchy that finally saw the introduction of Athens’ first constitution. Changing of the Greek Guards Greek guards or “Evzones” are members of the Presidential Guard found outside the Hellenic Parliament. They have become synonymous with the city of Athens and were originally founded in 1868 as a regiment of the Greek army. It is a high honour for a soldier to be selected to join the Evzones. They guard the grave of the Unknown Soldier that represents the common memory of all unknown soldiers killed at war. The changing of the Greek guards occurs every day at the top of the hour.
The Panathenaic Stadium or Kallimarmaro is a multi-purpose stadium in Athens, Greece. One of the main historic attractions of Athens, it is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble. Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896
Temple of Olympian Zeus & Arch of Hadrian In the heart of modern Athens, its streets pulsating with traffic, stands an enormous open space bordered by trees and shrubs – the Olympieion – a tranquil archaeological park where earth and sky seem to meet, linked by massive marble columns stretching upward, marking the temple of Olympian Zeus.
The Academy of Athens is Greece’s national academy and highest research institution, founded in 1926 to promote science, philosophy, and the arts. Its building, designed by Danish architect Theophil Hansen in 1859, is considered one of the finest examples of neoclassical architecture in Europe. Part of Athens’ iconic “Neoclassical Trilogy,” it features Ionic columns, rich sculptural decoration, and statues of Athena, Apollo, Plato, and Socrates. Inspired by the classical monuments of the Acropolis, the building showcases detailed pediments and impressive interior frescoes.
Lycabettus Hill is the highest point in central Athens, offering panoramic views over the entire city, the Acropolis, and the Aegean Sea. Covered with pine trees, the hill is a popular spot for both locals and visitors. At its summit stands the small white chapel of St. George, along with a café and a scenic open-air theater. You can reach the top either by walking or by taking the funicular railway.
Plaka is the oldest and most picturesque neighborhood of Athens, nestled right below the Acropolis. Known as the “Neighborhood of the Gods,” it features charming narrow streets, neoclassical houses, traditional tavernas, small cafés, and local shops. Its lively yet historic atmosphere makes it one of the most popular areas to explore, offering a blend of ancient ruins, Byzantine churches, and vibrant Athenian culture.

This was a great tour! The driver and car were professional, clean and comfortable! The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable. We were amazed by the extent of her information and stories about the places that we visited. I will say that I think this was not as much geared towards children as the information and the length of the presentations, exceeded the attention, span and interest of our kids, but we had a fantastic time!

Our tour guides were amazing. Took us anywhere we wanted to go.. It was pouring down rain when they picked us up. We asked them if they could take us to the Harley Davidson shop and they said that would be perfect since the weather was supposed to clear up in an hour or so (which it did). They took us to several tourist attractions and then to a nice shopping area where we got some nice souvenirs. It was one of the best tours we had during our 10 day cruise.
Thank you for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that our tour guides were amazing and flexible in accommodating your requests, even with the rain. It's great that you were able to visit the Harley Davidson shop and enjoy various attractions and shopping opportunities. We're delighted to know it was one of the highlights of your cruise! We hope to welcome you back for more memorable adventures in the future!
The pick up from the airport was great and we were able to see the major sights of Athens and still travel to Crete the same day!
Going to the Acropolis was wonderful. I would have liked to have known ahead of time that many sites are not open on Sunday, and we would have altered our schedule, but we did see a lot. Changing of the guard is amazing.

What a great way to see Athens in a day! We were met exactly at 830 and were able to get in and out of the Acropolis before the tour buses. Having a luxury car take you right to all the great spots was such a time savings. Lampros was a gracious host for the day sharing stories and even a special lunch spot that we wouldn’t have ever found for local fresh fish. I already have recommended him to others! Thank you for making our day in Athens wonderful!
Thank you very much for your nice words. It's always our pleasure to do our best for our guests and offer them a good hospitality. Hope to see you again.
