A private half day Athens tour usually starts with the visit of the Acropolis hill, the symbol of the Golden Age of Athens. You will admire the imposing architecture and the perfection of the construction of the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Propylaia, the temple of wingless Victory, the Theatre of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
The New Acropolis Museum is one of the most meritorious museums of the world. In a total area of 25000 square meters you can admire many valuable exhibits of the Acropolis, very interesting temporary exhibitions as well as the archeological excadation beneath the Museum.
The Panathenaic or Kallimarmaro Stadium is the stadium which hosted the First Modern Olympic Games in 1896. Made intirely by Pentelic marble can still accomodate 60.000 spectators!
The temple of Olympian Zeus used to be the largest temple in Greece. Unfortunately only 16 columns are surviving almost 2.000 years after its construction by the Roman Emperor Hadrian.
You can watch the Change of the Presidential Guards and the Tomb of the Uknown Soldier in front of the Parliament Hous or Old Royal Palace in Syntagma Square.
Mount Lycabettus is the highest hill of Athens, from where you can enjoy an astonishing panoramic view of Athens.
Plaka is the oldest neighborhood of Athens. We can drive at the narrow streets of the most picturesque spot of the city or even spend some time walking around the shops.
Monastiraki square is the most famous commercial district of Athens. We can pass by and take a look at the shops, the flea market, the central food market of Athens and the Ancient Agora from outside.

George turned what would have been a day of waiting at the airport into an engaging, interesting day full of the highlights of Athens for my family. He had great knowledge of the history of the sites and engaged in deeper conversation about Greek life today.
We had a very skilled and knowledgeable driver. He rerouted us out of traffic jams and got us to the important sites. We saw the Acropolis, the Acropolis museum, Zeus’ Temple, the modern Olympic stadium (1896) and the Plaka district for a delicious snack.
The personalize tour visited most of wish list and also gave us unknown additional historical fact along the routes. My favorite was witnessing the changing of the guards. Suggest that you verify the elevator is operational (if needed) at the Parthenon BEFORE being pressured to buy the admission tickets as we paid an extra $30 each and then could not enter as we needed the elevator and no refund was provided.
Our driver, Socrates was AMAZING, informative, kind, wonderful suggestions, listened to what we wanted to do and provided it to perfection. We truly cannot say enough good things about him. Requesting him is a must!
The driver was very knowledgeable about all the sites in Athens and the history. We would recommend this to anyone who visit Athens especially if you only have short time.
