Your tour begins at the iconic Greek Parliament, where you'll witness the impressive Changing of the Guard ceremony at Syntagma Square. Your host will share insights into the history and symbolism behind the Evzones' traditional uniform, the significance of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the role of the Greek Parliament in the country's political landscape.
Next, we’ll stroll through the charming streets of Plaka, the oldest neighborhood in Athens. Your host will guide you to the grand Metropolitan Cathedral and the historic Small Mitropolis, before exploring the lively heart of Plaka. As we walk along Tripodon Street, the oldest in Europe, you’ll discover the impressive Lysicrates Monument and hear stories of its connection to ancient theatrical competitions.
From Plaka, we’ll ascend into the hidden gem of Anafiotika, a picturesque neighborhood that feels like a Greek island within the city. With its whitewashed houses, narrow alleys, and blooming bougainvillea, this charming area offers a peaceful escape. Next, we’ll walk around the Ancient Agora, once the vibrant center of political and social life in ancient Athens. From our route, you'll have a perfect view of the magnificent Temple of Hephaestus, one of the best-preserved temples of antiquity, and the impressive Stoa of Attalus. As we explore, you'll also enjoy stunning views of the Acropolis rising majestically above the city.
After an incredible journey through history, it's time to relax and enjoy a delicious dinner at a fantastic restaurant. Here, you'll savor authentic Greek cuisine, made with fresh, local ingredients, and experience the true flavors of Greece in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Our next stop is Monastiraki, one of the most vibrant and historic squares in Athens. Here, you'll see the Tzistarakis Mosque, a remnant of the Ottoman era, and catch a glimpse of the ancient Iridanus River, which once flowed through the heart of the city. As night falls, you'll experience the lively atmosphere of Monastiraki, where bustling cafes, street performers, and illuminated landmarks bring Athens to life.
From Monastiraki, we continue to Hadrian’s Library, an impressive Roman-era structure built by Emperor Hadrian in 132 AD. Your host will explain its historical significance as a center of learning and philosophy in ancient Athens. Next, we make our way to the Roman Agora, a marketplace built during the Roman era that became a key commercial and social hub of ancient Athens. This was the best way to see Athens, do it on your first day! Emily was awesome- so fun and gracious.
First Katerina...you are so sweet and friendly don't ever change! Our flight was cancelled leaving the US. I messaged the tour coordinator and they were very quick to respond. They called me and worked on rescheduling our tour for another day even though we were outside of the cancellation window....so Thank You! TOUR: our family of 5 (ages 13, 17, 18) arrived at the meeting location. My husband and I were a little worried that it may be awkward as we were the only ones booked for that tour. Katerina made us feel so comfortable with her warm bubbly personality. It honestly felt like we were old friends catching up. She is knowledgeable about the area and was able to answer all of our questions even the questions that didn't relate to the tour. Katerina we hope to see you on our next trip to Athens. PRICE: For the price and what you get this tour is worth every penny. The meal at the restaurant was delicious and it really is a wide variety of food that is included. The server and the owner of the restaurant were so nice and friendly. We each got something different and everyone tried everything. We got to see neighborhoods that we would have otherwise never known existed or seen. All in a good way! Thank you Katerina :)
My wife and I were on group tour with Katerina. She was great. You need someone who knows the city to show you the city. She provided the right amount of detail to allow us to better understand the Athens neighborhoods and their rich history.
Katerina was the best - let me start with that! She also had someone with her that was also great. Aside from that, the tour takes you to parts of the city you’d never encounter - all topped with wonderful information. Also, don’t forget the wonderful meal 😋

This was the best tour you can possibly do in Athens. Our tour guide Emily brought the history and the local knowledge together. We had 2 teenagers with us and they loved seeing all the places to go and things to do in Athens. I can't describe how much personality and fun Emily brought to our night. We would have never known what the city had to offer if we tried to explore on our own.
