Visit to Abu Simbel
Long ride to the famous Abu Simbel Temple but it was worth it to see how thousand years of history and heritage was moved to keep it for many more years to come. But do prepare for the journey there though there will be stop over to stretch the legs and go for toilet break (which charges 20egp per person for info).

Abu Simbel & Philae ride.
I was late for my tour because my train from Cairo to Aswan was 5 hours late. The driver decided that he will not wait for me due to other clients waiting. I informed the tour organizer & she offered me a private car for 50 euros. I guess it’s a reasonable price considering the long distance from Aswan to Abu Simbel. I think it’s a 4 hours drive totally from Abu Simbel to Aswan train station with 1-2 rest stop along the way. Overall experience was totally worth it. Recommended.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experience 🙏
We truly appreciate your understanding. Just to clarify, as this was a shared tour with a fixed schedule and other guests already booked, the driver wasn’t able to wait beyond the agreed time in order to avoid affecting the rest of the group’s experience.
However, we completely understood your situation with the train delay, which was beyond your control. That’s why we offered you a private car as a special arrangement, to make sure you wouldn’t miss the experience. This was not about taking advantage of the situation, but about finding the best possible solution for you.
We’re really glad everything worked out well in the end and that you enjoyed your trip. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we hope to see you again soon in Egypt 🇪🇬✨

Wonderful trip, minor FYIs
We had a great time travelling to Abu Simbel. The taxi was easy to arrange and adjust. They stopped at a cafe both ways to break up the journey. The ride itself was comfortable, with a modern car with AC. Ammar who arranged the taxi was really easy to work with and very flexible.
FYI for tourists. It is a standard practice for taxis going between Abu Simbel and Aswan to go off road into the desert to avoid paying a toll. Our taxi did this. Our driver also stayed far longer at the cafe than we wanted, even after we asked to leave, chatting with friends. While we travelled swiftly, this was at the expense of safety, and we frequently tail gated cars ahead with less than a foot of distance at 90 kph.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback 🙏
We’re really glad to hear that you enjoyed the overall trip to Abu Simbel, that the booking process was easy, the vehicle comfortable, and that Ammar was helpful and flexible throughout the arrangement.
At the same time, we sincerely appreciate you pointing out the concerns you experienced during the journey. Safety and guest comfort are our top priorities, and what you described regarding driving behavior and stopping time at the café is not the standard we aim to provide.
We take this feedback very seriously and will immediately review it with the driver to ensure that all safety rules and agreed schedules are strictly respected in future trips.
Thank you again for bringing this to our attention — it helps us improve and maintain a higher standard for all our guests. We hope to have the opportunity to offer you a safer and even better experience in the future 🇪🇬✨

Breakdown
Well first say I hired a private car to go to abu simbel
At 4.30 in the morning when I saw that he was not arriving I wrote and they told me that the car had broken down and that they sent a friend with another car
A nice guy showed up half an hour later and we started our journey when we were a quarter of the way back. A light went off in the car and it broke down. He had to pick up a van that was doing the same shared excursion as doing us a favor.
Operator response
Estimado cliente,

Abu Simbel simply amazing!
Booked car and driver to Abu Simbel...nearly 9 hours (3.5 hrs each way and had about 2 hrs to see Abu Simbel). Good, clean car and air conditioning was cold enough. Picked us up at our hotel right on time for the long drive. Driver made a couple unscheduled stops along the way for his errands but it didn't take too much time so it was fine. He was a bit on the aggressive side of driving and often passed cars, going up to 140km. On one occasion, he went up to 170km and that's when we had to ask him to slow down as it was quite dangerous and the roads aren't that good there. He obliged and remained in the 130km range after. Got to Abu Simbel and it was amazing! Such a spectacular sight, above the river and to imagine how they were able to move this temple to save it from flooding. Definitely a must visit, although we would like to have an additional hour or so to meander around the area or even have lunch in the café there; however, had limited time and it was very hot in Abu Simbel without much shade. Return drive was good and got back to our hotel safely. Overall, a good trip/tour.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback 🙏
We’re really glad to hear that you enjoyed the overall experience and that the visit to Abu Simbel was as spectacular as expected. It truly is one of the most impressive sites in Egypt, and we’re happy you got to experience it comfortably with a clean, air-conditioned car and punctual pickup.
We also appreciate your honest comments regarding the driving behavior and additional stops. Safety is something we take very seriously, and this is not the standard we aim to provide. We will definitely review this with the driver to ensure driving limits and guest comfort are fully respected in all future trips.
Regarding the timing at Abu Simbel, we understand your point about wanting more time on site — it’s a balance between distance, heat, and schedule, but your feedback is very valuable and will help us improve the experience for future guests.
Thank you again for your trust and for choosing us. We’re happy you made it back safely and still had a memorable visit 🇪🇬✨

Avoid ! Late and dangerous !
We've booked a tour, just a car for round trip to Abu Simbel. Impossible to enter the hotel name on the website. As far as we stayed at the Old Cataract Hotel, Aswan's most famous palace, we were surprised. Emailed the company, response "See you"...
Departure was booked at 11am. Nobody showed. We send a text message on WhatsApp but the number given didn't connect for months. We found another number and the manager of this office responded that they were really busy that day ! He sent us a car which arrived more than 1 hour late. The car was not so clean and driver didn't speak english. Before entering the "highway", the driver took a path in the desert, in the middle of nowhere, between trash and garbage... Unable to imagine what he was doing... He told us "5 minutes safari" !!! Why ? to go where ? We told him firmly to go back to the road and follow the highway ! We tried to call the manager but no answer. Text message with him. Then he phoned the driver. It seems that it was to overtake a police control (and bakchic). Then he drove very fast on the road, trying to avoid holes and stones. We were forced to text the manager once again to tell the driver to slow down and drive carefully. We visited Abu Simbel but on the way back, the last hour was at night. Driving on this road was a nightmare. Fast driving, no safety distances, dangerous overtakes, no seat belt, making light flashes then turning light completly off and always on the phone ! We felt very in danger. Unbelievable to manage a tour like that.
Operator response
Dear
Thank you for your feedback. However, we must clarify several important points to present the full and accurate picture.
Your reservation was for a standard round-trip car transfer to Abu Simbel, not a VIP service, not a guided tour, and not a luxury vehicle category. We always provide the exact service level that is booked.
Regarding communication:
Our contact numbers are active and available, and we respond to messages within a maximum of one hour. Your booking was confirmed, and we remained in contact with you on the day of the trip. Due to operational pressure that morning, the car arrival was delayed, but a vehicle was still arranged and the trip was completed as scheduled.
Concerning the short desert stop:
The driver briefly offered an optional 5-minute stop to enjoy the Aswan desert scenery before entering the main highway, which many guests appreciate for photos. You initially agreed, then asked him to return to the main road, and he immediately followed your request.
We strongly reject the claim that the driver was attempting to avoid any police checkpoint. This assumption is incorrect and unfounded.
Regarding the driving speed:
During the trip, you clearly mentioned that you had a flight to catch and requested to move faster to avoid missing it. The driver tried to balance your time request with safe driving. When you later asked him to slow down, we contacted him directly and he adjusted his driving accordingly.
It is also important to note that the Abu Simbel road is a long desert highway, and some sections are naturally dark at night, which is normal for this region.
We respect all our guests equally, regardless of the hotel they stay in. The service level is based on the category booked, not the hotel standard.
We regret that the experience did not meet your expectations, but describing the service as “dangerous” does not reflect the full context of the trip, especially considering the repeated requests to arrive faster due to your flight schedule.
Best regards,
Go To Egypt Team
