Description
The Hanging Bridges Forest Reserve covers an area of 243 hectares (600 acres) of protected forest. This adventure is ideal for those who want to take in the characteristics and beauty of the tropical rainforest on foot.
The 3.1 km (2 mi.) circuit trail will cross 15 impressive bridges, some suspended over the forest canopy and others, which are stationary. The bridges have different lengths and altitudes and were designed to offer different perspectives from which to observe the flora and fauna, as you pass through several levels of the forest. From the bridges, you will have views of the treetops making it easier to locate animals and birds.
The topography of the terrain is relatively simple with some short slopes, suitable for all ages and ability levels. Some of the animals that we may observe in this type of forest are 3 different species of monkeys, multiple species of birds, snakes, peccaries, and frogs, among others.

A wonderful experience with Ecoterra Costa Rica
I just did the hanging bridges tour at Mistico Park with Ecoterra Costa Rica, and it was a simply splendid experience. 🌿🇨🇷
Although we were accompanied by torrential rain, that only gave the experience an even more special touch. Our guide was always attentive and, thanks to his knowledge and experience, we were able to discover an incredible amount of wildlife: two eyelash pit vipers, a hummingbird in its nest, a leaf-cutter ant, a lizard, a red-eyed tree frog, and even a glass frog with its eggs. 🐍🐸🦎🦜
And of course, the hanging bridges and the views of the forest are simply wonderful. Walking among the vegetation, listening to the rain, and being surrounded by so much biodiversity is something that really makes you remember why Costa Rica is a true paradise. 🌧️🌴
I want to especially highlight the guide's work, because he made the experience much more enriching. It wasn't just about walking across the bridges, but about learning, observing, and discovering the small treasures that would often go unnoticed.
Costa Rica is a paradise, and Ecoterra makes it so that one can enjoy it and discover it in an even more special way.
Totally recommended! 💚🇨🇷
Thank you very much, Ecoterra, for such a memorable experience.

No tour because the guide is late.
Unfortunately, the tour guide did not arrive on time. I had booked a tour for 7:30 AM, but by 8:30 AM the guide had still not arrived at the agreed location.
When I contacted the operator in Costa Rica, I was first informed that the guide was parking and already at the reception. However, after waiting an additional 10 minutes, I received a video showing that she was still in traffic on the way to the park.
Overall, we waited far too long. Guests are expected to be on time, otherwise the tour does not proceed. Therefore, it is not reasonable that the guide was more than an hour late.

Closed Trail
Our tour guide, Kathy, was great! She was very knowledgeable and was able to spot animals in the wild that we never would have seen. However, two of the bridges were out due to a storm. This was not disclosed to us before we paid for the hike. That is why I can only give it 4 out of 5.

Great tour.
Easy walk with a little bit uphill. Scenery was beautiful. Guide was great but others in our group were very time consuming for the guide and were very slow to move through the walk. Group should have been split into two. Overall really loved the park and the tour.

It was a great experience, we saw a sloth, snake and some birds. Our guide was knowledgeable, however I would recommend going in the morning to enjoy more wildlife

Amazing and 100% worth it!
Our tour guide was Mainor and he did a fantastic job! Not only was he well versed in English and Spanish, he was extremely knowledgeable and very polite. He took his time and made sure everyone was able to see each point. He pointed out a lot of different species along the way and allowed for everyone in the group to look at it up close through his telescope. Not only did he point out all the different wildlife and plants, he was extremely knowledgeable in all of it and very skilled in spotting animals that were otherwise completely camouflaged. He also was kind enough to share all the pictures with the group to make sure everyone had good, nice pictures of everything. He truly made our experience a lot better! I would recommend Mainor as a tour guide 10 times out of 10! I would definitely recommend taking a guided tour instead of a self-guided tour just based on the extra experience and knowledge that was acquired through doing so. Thank you for the excellent experience and we are so glad that we took this tour! It was our anniversary trip and this will be a treasured experience always!

Less wildlife than expected
The tour was well organized and our guide was very nice. We went in the morning on a sunny day and had hoped to see a lot of wildlife, but really didn’t see much. Most of what we did see (bats, an owl, a snake, ants, tarantula, a frog) was through the telescope of the guide. There are 6 hanging bridges but one was closed, so we had to take a detour. Overall it was a nice activity but be prepared to not see much other than vegetation and a waterfall. There are also nice views from the bridges. We were given snacks on the bus after the tour and there were nice clean restrooms for use before and after.

Amazing Tour of the Hanging Bridges
I had a great tour on Saturday. I chose to go in the afternoon because there’s typically way less tourist traffic at that time. You won’t get to see as much wildlife as you do in the morning but it’s a fair trade off if you want a more intimate experience with the rainforest and hanging bridges. It was only me and another solo female traveler so it was almost a private tour. The tour guide took his time and was very knowledgeable of the forest and wildlife. He even spotted a couple of eyelash vipers, birds, peccary boars, and monkeys. We got lucky! He took awesome photos with a much better high definition camera and shared them us in the end. He was very down to earth and accommodating. I highly recommend this tour!

Great way to spend a morning
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the hanging bridges. Our tour guide Diego was friendly and very knowledgeable about the plants and animals on the tour. We were lucky enough to see howler and spider monkeys plus some beautiful birds. It was a wonderful way to spend a morning. Thanks Diego and EcoTerra!
