Itinerary

15 min

Our first stop is at the impressive Corinth canal as your driver describes its many interesting ill-fated and varied History’s from Ancient times to the present. The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. From high up, you can enjoy the best view of Corinth's isthmus and admire the steep limestone walls while you observe the vessels below you navigate their way through the canal

Here, you can visit the Archaeological site and the museum of Ancient Corinth, one of the most important cities in Ancient Greece. Here, you have one hour to explore Apollo temple, the temple to Octavia, the baths, the Bema where St. Paul addressed the Corinthians, the Peirine fountain complex, the theatre, the Roman Odeum... Inside the archaeological site you can visit also the museum with exhibits from the area.

Key aspects of the Archaeological site of Ancient Corinth include: • Hadgimoustafa spring • Lechaion Road • Basilica • Fountain of Peirene • Stoa • Agora • Odien • Other temples • Theatre

Admission not included10 min

60 min

Last stop is the Acropolis of the Ancient Corinth, called Acrokorinthos, a monolithic rock that was continuously occupied from archaic times to the early 19th century. Here you have one hour to visit the castle. You will enjoy the amazing view 575 meters above sea level, and explore the three castle gates, the Upper Pirene springs, the temple to Aphrodite which was Christianized as a church on the top...

A Fantastic Excursion with an Outstanding Host

Excellent excursion with Nikos at the wheel! From the moment he picked us up, Nikos was incredibly hospitable. Throughout our journey, he shared interesting insights about Athens, Greece, and the places we were visiting, adding so much to the overall experience. The vehicle was comfortable, and Nikos kept the ride enjoyable with great music, easy conversation, and plenty of laughs along the way. The Corinth Canal and Ancient Corinth absolutely did not disappoint! Being able to physically stand in these historic locations was mind-blowing. If we could change one thing, we might have allowed ourselves a little more time at Ancient Corinth—there is simply so much history and information to take in. But that is certainly not a complaint; we thoroughly enjoyed the experience from beginning to end. I already can’t wait to visit Athens again, and when we do, we would absolutely call upon Nikos and his crew. Don’t hesitate—book your transport and enjoy the journey!

Corinth Guided Tour: A+!

Yiannis was prompt for pickup at our chosen location. He was friendly and informative. He tailored our experience to our preferences. He was flexible and enhanced our knowledge of Corinth, Ancient Corinth and the Corinth Canal. Would definitely tour with him again in the future. When we were done, he allowed us to choose our drop off location. It was a great half day tour! Thank you!

Get out of Athens and see some of the Peloponnese Peninsula

We were picked up at the cruise ship terminal and then dropped at a hotel near the airport which was perfect. It took about 1 hour 10 minutes to get to the Corinth Canal. Our guide/driver Nikos really knows all of Greece and its history. He gives a running commentary and could answer any question we asked. After seeing the canal, we went on to see the ruins of ancient Corinth. There are ruins of a temple and theater, but they have uncovered as much of them as some other sites. The archeological museum is well worth the 15 euro admission. It has some of the most complete statues, plaques, figurines etc. That we have seen. Then we went up to Acrocorinth which is a castle and acropolis above the museum. The site is 575 meters up a rough coblestone road. We made it half way in 93 degree heat. This still gave us fantastic views from the sea to the mountains. Nikos preps you on everything you will see and we were in a very comfortable van. This is a great tour for seeing something outside of Athens.

Wonderful tour!

This is a wonderful tour away from the city. Yiannis was a great guide. The canal was spectacular and his stops were very good for snacks and restrooms. The old ruins were interesting but wish he had given us more direction there or could have accompanied us for more detail.

Wonderful Trip to Corinth!

We were traveling for our honeymoon and were picked up by Yiannis for our drive into Corinth! We travelled with two others couples in a van, with great air conditioning! We had an amazing time. He made sure we had snacks and water during our trip and we saw all of the wonderful history Corinth has to offer. He shared historical facts and stories along the way. We even made a small stop on the way back to see a special underwater bridge. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it to many others!

not impressed

it didn't happen, there was a mistake with the booking ,tried to rectify it but was completely ignored

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you were disappointed with your experience. According to our records, your booking was confirmed for 3 July. On the scheduled day, we had arranged both the driver and the vehicle to pick you up for your tour. However, at the last minute, you informed us that you were not in Greece and that you would be arriving on 15 August. We showed you that your reservation had been made for 3 July. Unfortunately, this was not a case of confusing the date by one day, where we might have been able to accommodate you. Instead, the requested tour date was 43 days after the original booking date, which made it impossible to honor the reservation as booked or reschedule it at such short notice. We always do our best to assist our guests whenever possible, but in this case, we had already allocated our staff and vehicle based on the confirmed booking date. We appreciate your understanding and wish you all the best with your future travels.
