Van Gogh went to the opening of the Rijksmuseum in 1885. He was waiting for his friend, in the meantime he made a sketch of Amsterdam in oil paint. We were so pleased we took this small group private tour, with Titia as our guide. She was delightful, professional and very knowledgeable, as she guided us through and helped us understand at a deeper level, the dynamics of each piece we viewed, as well as providing us with their historical context, in addition to the history of the Museum as well. The booking process was seamless and both Titia, and the company reached out to us, in welcoming us to the tour and making sure we knew, where and when to meet. Book this wonderful tour!
Fannie was a great guide. Very knowledgeable, personable and very enthusiastic. She is clearly passionate about art and art history.
I learned so much from our Amor Artium Guide. I learned about Amsterdam through the paintings of Rembrandt and the other Dutch Masters. The Guide was an art historian and her passion for each painting and the stories behind each painter and painting brought everything alive. I am so glad we went with Amor Artium. It was an unforgettable experience at the Rijksmuseum.
Ank provided us with an amazing tour of the Dutch masters in the Rijksmuseum! Her deep knowledge of Rembrandt and other masters paired with her knowledge of Amsterdam and Holland history gave us such an informative and memorable experience. I highly recommend Amor Artium and specifically Ank for this museum if you can get her!
Lisa gave a wonderful tour! Very exciting and informational. Would highly recommend her visiting the museum with her!

Hi! Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback. We’re really pleased to hear you enjoyed your Rijksmuseum tour with Titia. Hope to welcome you again!
What a great experience! Titia was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour so special. I don't think I will ever tour another museum without a private guide.
The Rijksmuseum deserved a 5 star rating for experience, and I recommend if you have a fair appreciation for Dutch art, then allow multiple hours for this experience. The reason for the 1 star rating is related to my booking experience. I purchased a private tour of the Rijksmuseum for my cousin and I related to time constraints. Under the impression the tour guide would provide optimal routes to navigate the museum and provide critical information. This was simply not the case. My cousin and I arrived 10 minutes early to the meeting point only to find no tour guide found. I called the tour guides number multiple times with only going to voice mail. I then proceeded to call Viator directly and they too were unable to contact the tour guide. I ultimately would not book a private tour experience through this specific outlet on viator due to the unreliableness.
Dear kendal, We are so sorry this happened, we have never received your booking due to an technical error on Viators side, we never received this booking in our calendar due to failed API connection. We are a very small company run by art historians, we never had this problem before and therefore we really regret what happened, but unfortunately we could not do anything about it, since we never received your booking. Immediately you've received a full refund and we hope we can guide you in the future. Kind regards, Florentine
The Amor Artium art tour at the Rijksmuseum is a fun and well-structured tour that approaches art in an accessible but not simplified way. The guide knows how to tell the historical context and personal stories convincingly, making the works really live. In tour a clear storyline was visible and coherence is created between different artworks and periods. The pace is pleasant and does not force, leaving plenty of time to look and reflect. The tour also offers new perspectives for people who are already familiar with the Rijksmuseum or art history. a high-quality art tour for those who not only want to see, but also want to understand the Rijksmuseum. Good for both interested beginners and experienced museum visitors.
