The tour was very informative. We very much enjoyed meeting and interacting with the Amish people. Tom, the guide/driver, was very personable and knowledgeable.

Many visitors to Lancaster seek out meaningful personal contact with the Amish community. Imagine visiting three Amish properties where our longstanding relationships allow you to become their guests during your stay. This exclusive tour is limited to 14 guests, and provides the rare opportunity to meet and talk to various Amish where they live and work. The three stops: Visit an Amish farm at milking time, go behind-the-scenes with an Amish craftsman, and then sit and chat with an Amish family right in their home.
Stop 1: Amish Farm When we arrive at the farm, we enter the barn to learn about the milking process firsthand. You may be surprised to learn that the Amish do not milk cows by hand. You will also discover how milk is kept cold in the bulk tank with “Amish electricity.” Other aspects of farm life may also be included. Stop 2: Amish “Cottage Industry” With the price and scarcity of farmland, many Amish have started their own small enterprises, making everything from gazebos and furniture to farm equipment and quilts. These “home businesses” have become the subject of books and articles emphasizing the balance these entrepreneurs achieve between work and family. Our visit may be to a harness or carriage maker, basket weaver, greenhouse, leather or wood worker, among others. An actual demonstration is normally a part of this fascinating stop. Stop 3: Amish Home Visit To conclude our evening, we travel scenic backroads to a distant farm in the countryside. As we step inside the house, we find that friendly conversation awaits as we sit, chat, and visit the way the Amish do, talking informally without TVs, IPhones or computers. It comes as no surprise that strangers soon become friends.

The tour was very informative. We very much enjoyed meeting and interacting with the Amish people. Tom, the guide/driver, was very personable and knowledgeable.
The tour was excellent. I knock it down one star because the tour took over 3 hours and there are no planned comfort stops (bathroom breaks) scheduled. For us senior citizens, this is "no bueno".
The tour guide was amazing. I learned so much. I would very much like to do that again. I highly recommend.
It was a wonderful experience and so educational.
The Amish VIP experience offered some interesting stops, but overall it didn’t deliver the immersive or authentic feel I was hoping for—and it didn’t feel like good value for the money. The blacksmith visit was decent and worth seeing, though a few of the people left during our time there, which made it feel a bit incomplete. The farm stop was pleasant enough, but it didn’t stand out from a regular farm visit you could do on your own. The stop at the family’s home was the most awkward part. Instead of learning much about their way of life, we found ourselves being asked more questions (where we were from, what we do, etc.) than we got answers. It felt uncomfortable and one-sided rather than a genuine cultural exchange. I’m glad I got a small glimpse into Amish life, but the overall experience felt underwhelming and not worth the premium price for a “VIP” tour. A more balanced, informative interaction would have made a big difference.
Tom was the best tour guide, we had an excellent visit. It was really instructuive and interesting ! Thanks again !
The admission fee was reasonable. Perfect length of time - 3 hours. Size of group was perfect. This tour was strongly recommended by our hosts at the E.J. Bowman House - Bed and Breakfast - Scott and Diane. They were not wrong as we found the event educational as well as entertaining. Our guide was outstanding and "filled in the blanks" to questions that were not asked. The families visited were so nice and informative. They were more than open to any question asked. Thank you so much and I strongly encourage others to participate in The Amish Experience.
It was a lovely experience. The three venues was a good idea. The farmer was very informative. The leather shop Keeper was not as informative and the fact that we were directed to his store at the beginning made us feel like we were expected to buy something. The older couple in their home were lovely people but they did not volunteer information. They responded to questions but it would have been nice if they would have spoken openly about their lifestyle, their daily lives, or their faith. There were many moments of silence when we as a group were kind of waiting for them to speak until we realized that we needed to ask questions instead.
I really enjoyed the tour. It was amazing. Gave me a better knowledge of the Amish people. Everyone was so nice and the tour guide was excellent.
Jim was wonderful , very knowledgeable
