The American Prohibition Museum, located in Savannah's City Market, is the first and only museum in the United States dedicated to the history of Prohibition. While here, self-guided guests will travel back in time to the early 1900s, as anti-alcohol rallies swept the nation and the “booze problem” was pushed to the forefront of American politics. The true story of America’s struggle with the liquor question, the passing of the 18th Amendment, its impact on the nation, and the far-reaching consequences of the 13 years of Prohibition all come to life within the walls of the American Prohibition Museum. Upgrade to the Guided Tour Option or the Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option. Each will give you a fully guided 45-minute tour. The Guided Tour option also includes a period-accurate cocktail or mocktail. The Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option includes a bartending experience in our speakeasy tasting an Old Fashioned and MAKING a Bees Knees!

Through immersive displays and state-of-the-art dioramas, museum goers will learn how Prohibition and Temperance shaped thinking and culture for more than two hundred years of American history. Not your average “Dry” Museum, the American Prohibition Museum features state-of-the-art displays such as: A recreated 1918 Street Scene, setting the stage in “Anywhere, USA” A captivating Tent Revival featuring fire and brimstone preacher, Reverend Billy Sunday Carry Nation’s Hatchetations and a bar demolished by her signature hatchet Lillian M.N. Stephens and Adolphus Busch squaring off and pleading their side of the argument A dimly lit Moonshine Scene, tucked back into the heart of America’s wilderness A hidden gem of a Speakeasy bar, serving up period authentic cocktails And much, much more… Experience this one-of-a-kind attraction when you visit Savannah!

Great Guided Tour with Serena
Where do we start! This is one of the coolest museums I’ve been too. It is really more of an experience. I thought it would be tacky but it was very tasteful and informative. I would suggest taking the guided tour to get the best out of the museum. Our guide Serena was such an engaging character. She even used a period correct accent! Very committed to delivering a great guest experience. The content of the museum covers both sides of the wet and dry movements. Really interesting part of history in the heart of Savannah!!

What I Didn't Know
The guided museum tour with Ethan was really informative. The cocktail at the end didn't hurt either. It convinced us to book the cocktail class that evening with Jackson. Time flew! So many things I didn't know about the drinks we've been enjoying for years!

Wonderful Tour and Experience
We went on the guided tour. It was so interesting and our guide, Tommy, was in character and terrific. The drink at the end in the speakeasy was a fun touch. We loved it all!

This is a great and impressive little museum. They pack in a lot of information and it is well curated. It was a surprising little gem. I highly recommend it. And you can take some photos

This is a great museum. I learned so much about Prohibition that I didn’t know. Our guide (Ozzie ?) was the best. It is definitely a must see.

Fun and interesting...
Fun and interesting museum. You learn about Prohibition and everything that comes along with that time. They also have a speakeasy where you can get a drink before moving on.
