Me and my family thoroughly enjoyed our experience with this driver, he was extremely friendly and welcoming.
A perfect tour with Muhammad Rady. He's an excellent driver and explained everything perfect. An absolute recommendation!
We went on a full-day trip to the pyramids and the New Cairo Museum and had a wonderful experience. Abu Yazid was very kind and service-minded. Our guide, Huda, was also excellent—she explained the history of the pyramids in a clear and engaging way.
The long and short of it? Do not use this company. They do not live up to what they promise and expose you to multiple scams. We were holidaying in Egypt visiting Cairo and Luxor. Having seen some positive reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided to book a tour of the Sphinx and the Pyramids with Rimo. We were informed that since we wanted to start later in the day, they would need to arrange a special guide for us and that would cost a additional US$60. We agreed and we were informed that the tour was all inclusive and we'd need to pay only the entrance ticket for the Pyramids and Sphinx complex. Since we were heading to Luxor next, we asked Rimo for cost for sightseeing tours of the East and West bank. We were quoted rates that seemed on the higher side which we felt maybe due to their reputation. When we asked for the itineraries of the tours to confirm what was covered, we were informed that we'd receive them only after we'd paid in full and only when we arrived in Luxor. We felt this was strange and decided to hold off on our decision to use them till after our Sphinx and Pyramids tour. We were picked up on time and then taken to see meet our guide who was waiting at a shop. This is when the alarm bells started ringing. Turns out that the 'guide' was an old lady who was the owner of a papyrus painting shop. She told us some fantastical myths of how the pyramids were built and then her shops staff tried to sell us some hideously overpriced papyrus paintings. Having checked the prices of paintings earlier, we knew this was a set up and we said we'd consider buying after the tour. They insisted we write a positive review in their book before we left. Having failed to get any money out of us, we were then driven down some narrow lanes to an 'office' where we were introduced to the next 'guide' who informed us that it was difficult to trek through the area on foot and we should use their horse carriages. Since there were three of us, we'd need to take 2 carriages. The carriages themselves were completely ramshackle, and we were told we'd need to pay another obscene amount of money for the carriages. When we protested and mentioned that the tour was supposed to be all inclusive, the new 'guide' insisted that it did not cover the horses and the carriages. Since we had come all the way to Egypt, we decided to go ahead. We were taken to the entrance of the complex and the new 'guide' purchased our entry tickets. As soon as we entered, we noticed that there were actually modern, electric buses to transport visitors around the complex free of charge. We immediately questioned why the guide had insisted that horses and carriages were absolutely essential to see the complex in comfort and ease? We paid for the entry tickets and informed that guide we would use the free buses. Thankfully we'd negotiated payment after the tour for the horses and carriages else, we'd have been out of pocked by a few hundred dollars. We never saw our original 'guide' again. I contacted Rimo immediately and questioned them about why these things had occurred. I pointed out how the original guide apparently was not even a guide and then had disappeared immediately after we entered the complex. Initially, they claimed to be surprised by the guide's behavior and then apologized and confirmed they would refund us (I was dealing with Suzet from Rimo). Of course, that never happened. Suzet actually had the temerity to then ask us if we would continue with the Luxor trip with them. Based on our experience, this is a travel Agency to be avoided completely. They charge a significant amount, extract extra costs under different reasons and then send you down a path of other vendors who then try to extract their share of the pie. You absolutely do not need to book horses to see the complex. The buses are well organized and you can take them from one location to another. When I started checking newer reviews on our return from Egypt, I noticed that other travelers have been through the same experience and therefore it appears to be their working style.
Rimo Tours Egypt was an excellent choice for our first visit to Egypt. Nour is very professional and her responses were prompt and clear, and the entire experience across Cairo and Luxor was very well organised. The tour guides were knowledgeable, professional, and engaging, making the history come alive while ensuring everything ran smoothly. We felt well taken care of throughout. Great value for money and a very reliable team. Recommend Rimo Tours Egypt to anyone visiting Egypt for the first time.
