Itinerary
Look for the Blue Umbrellas and prepare yourself to start a journey into the soul of Lisbon.
The Chafariz de El-Rei, which was probably the first public fountain in the city of Lisbon, was built in the 13th century, taking advantage of the excellent waters of the Alfama hillside.
It was once called Chafariz dos Cavalos (Horse Fountain), and it's Alfama's central plaza. Its current name comes from the fact that it is located within the walls of the Fernandina wall.
Next to the ancient wall, this is where memories of the old Alfama still linger.
Yet another special place in Alfama where we sit to listen to stories that cross culture and ancient habits.
This beautiful church and square is one of the main spots where the famous Popular Saints Festivities take place. A place of many stories and tales.
One of Lisbon's most iconic murals by the hand of Nuno Saraiva.
Depending on the pace, we will go inside the mazy Alfama and reach the Church of Santo Estêvão Viewpoint.
This viewpoint is one enormous balcony overlooking all of Alfama. Its panoramic view has illustrated countless postcards.
Yet another iconic spot in Lisbon, this terrace is as romantic as it gets.
Lisbon Cathedral, better known as Sé de Lisboa, is the oldest and most important church in the city. Its construction dates back to the 12th century. We won't be going inside the Cathedral (cost of entry 5€).
What better place to celebrate Lisbon than in front of the Church of Santo António, Lisbon's most cherished saint.

Fernanda was incredibly knowledgeable, full of great energy, and made the whole experience so enjoyable. She did a phenomenal job bringing Alfama to life with fascinating stories, local insights, and a wonderful personality. We had such a great time and would definitely join Fernanda again on our next visit to Lisbon. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kike, our guide, told us all the curiosities of Alfama and showed us every corner and the history of the neighborhood. It was an experience to repeat, and he was super attentive, and above all, his attitude and his way of living his work in a spectacular way should be highlighted!
Our guide Celia gave a very pleasant and entertaining tour through the Alfama neighborhood, with a lot of content and showing every detail to get to know Lisbon and its inhabitants from the inside.
An essential experience to get a minimal understanding of Lisbon and its history. Elvira, who was our guide, was attentive to us at all times, giving us all the information so that our experience would be a ten.
Rikardo is a fantastic guide. He not only tells the history of the place but also makes you feel every part of the city and how its people live. I will definitely recommend it.
The love and feeling of the guide Rikardo is spectacular; if we add his humor and passion for what he is explaining to you, it becomes a tour of an incredible level, and that is even though we did it at 3:45 PM.
Excellent experience thanks to a fantastic guide, Rikardo, who made us delve into the essence of the neighborhood that he himself discovered over these years. The neighborhood is beautiful, everything was very personal and exciting. We tried the chocolate ginginha from the hands of a lovely lady. A complete success of an experience.
We took the tour with Rikardo and we loved it. He conveyed the essence of the neighborhood very well to us with each of his stories.
Highly recommended, our guide Rikardo was the reason we loved the experience.
Wow, how beautiful Alfama is and how nice it is to see someone working and seeing how much she likes her job. I did the route with Clara and of course I would repeat, a 10.
