Itinerary

20 min

The Church of Sant’Antonio, also known as the Trullo Church, was built in 1926, during a period in which Alberobello was undergoing a phase of modernization, but the design was strongly inspired by the tradition of the trulli. The church was built to serve the growing population of the town, which until then depended on the Mother Church of Alberobello, located in the upper part of the town.

20 min

Trulli are one of the first examples of insulating architecture. Their structure guarantees freshness during the summer and warmth in the winter, thanks to walls and roofs built dry with limestone blocks. Air chambers are created between the stones that regulate the internal temperature. The conical roof, built without supports, is composed of “chiancarelle” arranged in brackets in increasingly narrow circles, until they form a central opening.

15 min

The Rione Monti district, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located on the southern hill of Alberobello and is home to over a thousand trulli. The area is crossed by fifteen streets and is located near Largo Martellotta, so called because of the three cisterns dug into the Eight hundred to collect rainwater.

15 min

This building, probably one of the oldest in Alberobello, stands out for its unique continuous double cone roof. The Trullo Siamese is composed of two interconnected cones, which share a central wall. This peculiarity makes it different from other trulli, which usually have a single dome. The recess between the two cones, visible from the outside, was skillfully filled by the master trullo maker who built it, giving the building a unique shape.

15 min

The oldest and most authentic neighborhood of Alberobello is Aia Piccola, so called because it once constituted the ancient and industrious area dedicated to the agricultural work of the town. Let's discover this area!

Pass by

The ancient residence of the doctor and intellectual Giacomo Pezzolla houses the Civic Museum of Alberobello, which focuses on the culture and history of the local area. If you want to know history of this city, this is your place!

15 min

Casa D’Amore, built in 1797 by citizen Francesco D’Amore, is the first house in Alberobello made entirely of terracotta, using mortar for its construction, following a royal decree that allowed the inhabitants to build houses in this way.

20 min

The Mother Church of the Saints Cosma and Damiano is one of the most important religious buildings in Alberobello, located in the heart of the historic center. Dedicated to the patron saints of the city, Cosma and Damiano, it dates back to 1784. The church was designed to replace a smaller chapel that was no longer sufficient to accommodate the faithful.

Admission not included15 min

The Trullo Sovrano is the only two-story trullo in the city, a rare example of the construction skill and innovation of local 18th-century artisans. The Trullo Sovrano represents an evolution of traditional rural trulli, with a more complex and spacious structure, designed to accommodate a wealthy family.

Audio city tour

It is practical that you can do the tour at your own pace. In between, you can stop and have a coffee and then continue the tour without any problems. Because it was divided into small stories of 2-4 minutes, even our teenager liked it a lot.

Highly recommended independent audio guide of Alberbello

Highly recommended independent tour guide experience. No waiting around as a group. Very straight forward, informed, enjoyable tour and cost effective. Will definitely use again in other countries as it suited our family needs and offers greater flexibility.

Good way to get information!

We did the audio tour in Alberobello. The handling is not entirely intuitive, but the texts are good: plenty of information and a perfect length.

Informative guide, with...

Informative guide, with lots of photos. Easy to download beforehand (saved it to the home screen on my phone). Not always clear how to get to the next location. A little direction would have been useful.

Great Written & Audio Guide For Alberobello Highlights!

I found this really useful for helping me reach all the best spots in Alberobello! Your booking confirmation includes a link to the site and a password to access the guide. The site has a map which you can open in Google maps and short audio clips for each stop to give an explanation, meaning you can go at your own pace and pause whenever you want to to go in to shops on the way. It also has the words spoken in the audio clips written out for those that are deaf or may have forgotten headphones which is great and very inclusive! Overall this is a great option if you are looking to do a tour of Alberobello on a budget or without the restrictions of being in a group! I definitely recommend this!

A good option to get to know this beautiful place even better.

It was very helpful. I headed to the starting point where the tour is set up. And I went down through different interesting points of the town. I liked how the attractions are selected, the information contained in the guide, as well as the recommendations! I recommend it. Good job, Mateo, thank you!!
