We booked this excursion on 17 July for 18 July, with a pickup time scheduled for 4:30 PM. We arrived in front of the hotel on time and waited with our young child in 38°C heat from 4:15 PM until 5:10 PM before finally giving up. After contacting your agency, we did not receive any response until 7:00 PM, when we were informed that, due to an internal error on your side, we had supposedly missed a notification that the excursion had been cancelled because of bad weather. Interestingly, while we were standing there waiting, several other agencies were successfully picking up their guests from the very same hotel. That makes the explanation about the weather difficult to understand. Following your apology, we were assured that a guide would contact us on the evening of 19 July to arrange the excursion for 20 July at the same time. It is now 9:20 PM, and once again nobody has contacted us. At this point, it is hard to take your promises seriously. We have wasted our time on two consecutive days, and most importantly, you have completely disappointed a child who was genuinely excited about the camel ride. This level of organization and communication is far below what any customer should reasonably expect after making a reservation and paying for a service. We would appreciate a clear explanation and an immediate solution rather than another apology followed by more silence.
We booked this tour expecting the experience described in the listing, but what we received was quite different. Communication was poor from the beginning. We did not hear from the operator until we reached out ourselves with the help of Viator. On the day of the tour, pickup was about 50 minutes late. The van had no water available, and “air conditioning” is a generous description. The first stop was the camel ride. Despite the listing emphasizing a sunset camel ride in the Agafay Desert with scenic views, our ride lasted only about 10 minutes and took place on gravel, not on sand, and not during sunset. It felt more like a photo stop than an authentic desert experience. After that, we were taken to an argan oil store, where there was a clear sales presentation before continuing to dinner. The listing describes a relaxed small-group experience, but while our van had 16 people, we eventually merged with at least ten other vans for dinner and entertainment. The atmosphere was much more crowded than advertised. One confusing aspect was that many people in our group went on quad bikes, while we did not. Nothing in our Viator booking suggested quads were included or optional, and no explanation was provided. Throughout the evening, we had the impression that something had gone wrong with our reservation and that we may have been added to a different itinerary, but no one explained the differences. Dinner and entertainment were enjoyable, and the staff themselves were pleasant, but the overall experience did not match the description. If you’re expecting a small-group sunset desert experience with a sunset camel ride and carefully timed itinerary that avoids crowds, be aware that our experience was very different.
My excursion tour to Agafay dessert was very nice. Our guide was Zouhair Ben. He is very good. Very helpful and friendly. Thank you, Ben! First we visited a women's corporation for Argan oil, very interesting! Then we made a camel ride and went to the dinner camp where we had a delicious Berber dinner with Chicken Tajine! I highly recommend this trip. Thank you!
Our tour guide, ibtissam was amazing. She was very attentive and energetic. She bought the kids a chocolate treat. She was very nice and helpful. She had us stop at a local store to buy drinks along the way so we didn’t have to pay the huge upcharge on water at the desert. Entertainment was ok. Ran a bit late for my young kids but they still enjoyed it. Good was served family style with a chicken tangine, couscous, salad, and bread. Camel ride was highlight of the night.
Excellent trip. We were a family with a 6 & 8 year old who had a fabulous time. They say 10 out of 10! Things worth noting: The chap who picked us up and dropped us off was great. Really looked after us. Even got us out first so we could get the boys to bed. He made sure they knew Iain was gluten free so he had his own tagine as he couldn’t have the couscous etc. Wish we’d have known about the argon ladies we stopped to see, if we’d have known a bit more, we would have bought something from them. Camels were great. And the boys loved the fire dancers. All in all, a highlight of our 10 day trip, thank you!
The Agafay Desert Sunset Dinner with Camel Ride & Moroccan Live Show was an incredible experience and one of the highlights of my time in Morocco. Everything was very well organized, from the transportation to the activities and dinner setup in the desert. The sunset views were beautiful, the camel ride was fun, and the live Moroccan music and entertainment created an amazing atmosphere. A special thank you to Saida, who was incredibly kind, professional, and welcoming throughout the experience. She genuinely cared that everyone had a great time and made the evening feel very personal and memorable. Highly recommend this tour!
