Afro Brazilian Food Experience

The experience was great and our guide Val was great and very knowledgeable and passionate about her heritage and the African roots of Brazil. It was rainy and Val still made it a great tour. Also the food was great at Dida. The ONLY negative was the price. The 1130AM tour offers 3 stops at various restaurants for food which gives you more variety. The 6PM only makes 1 stop because the other locations are closed. This should be fully disclosed in the description or the 6PM tour should be at a cheaper cost because you get less of an experience. This was very disappointing and if Val wasn't so good at her job, I would of given it 3 stars. Again, the tour is great but just be sure you book the 1130 option and stay away from the 6PM option.

Gabriella is so knowledgeable about Afro Brazilian culture and how it intersects with the rest of the world. Each dish, restaurant, step, and interaction is a history lesson. The soulful dishes were cooked to perfection. We started off at Dois de fevereiro. I had the feijoada with collard greens- chefs kiss. Next, we went to a traditional home styled restaurant with mouthwatering dishes and cocktails that told the story of afro-brazillian culinary ties to mama Africa and the incorporation of new foods from the new world. The palate was renewed with an exquisite banana and ice cream dessert. Also, the venue showcased local artists. We ended the day with drinks. I had the Agua de Oxum a drink with a custard like consistency and taste. I wish it could be found back in America. I rate this experience a 10 out of 10.
