Itinerary

Pass by

Recently voted the number sixth best beach in Australia by Tripadvisor, Mooloolaba Beach is known as one of the most beautiful beaches on the Sunshine Coast.

Pass by

Flanked on one side by the ocean and the Mooloolah River on the other, Point Cartwright is a stunning beach, located at the base of the headland at the northern end of Kawana Beach. See the iconic Point Cartwright lighthouse and ocean themed mural-painted reservoir.

Pass by

Alexandra Headland has a relaxed and laid back atmosphere that complements the soothing rolling surf and inviting beaches. Alexandra Headland's main attraction is its magnificent coastal frontage of beach, headland and parks extending for kilometres north and south.

Pass by

Old Woman Island (or Mudjimba Island) is located 1km off the coast. There are a number of Aboriginal legends abound about the Island. One has it, the Island was the result of an epic battle between two men, Coolum and Ninderry, and a woman called Maroochy. The end result was that Coolum's head was knocked off and ended up in the ocean, creating Mudjimba Island. Mount Coolum, seven kilometers to the north, is now flat topped due to the lack of a head! There are various other legends involving Aboriginal women living on the island until old age, hence the "Old Woman" name.

Great experience

I was so pleased that I chose the smaller boat option with20 on board and not over 100. The boat was spotless, attention to safety excellent and on board commentary very educational whilst waiting and hoping for a sighting (naturally not guaranteed) Very lucky to sight a juvenile and then captain went to a couple of other spots and we saw 2 whales towards the end of the 2 hour trip. The duration of 2 hours perfect...just wonderful being on the water with no other boats in sight. Thanks for a great experience

What to Expect

There are no guarantees to see whales. The guide was very knowledgeable and engaging with the travellers. The boat can rock a bit and it may be problematic for those liable to sea sickness.

Experienced Whale Adventure

Beautiful sunshine day of whale watching on 7th August 2026. Nice slow paced trip out of Mooloolaba River mouth to race through the waves and discover pod after pod of whales all travelling south. Thank you to Skipper and Sandy for an exciting morning being amongst the whales frolicking along our coast line.

Whale watching experience

Great experience. While it was late in the season for whales we were lucky enough to see several whales. I went out twice - 2 days apart. First trip came upon the whales immediately. Second trip it took some time but the tour operators went out of their way to find whales for us.

Fantastic Fun!

We could not recommend Jake and Jake (the skipper and deckhand) enough. They are very professional, giving us a safety talk before we left and ensuring everyone was comfortable, which they continued to do throughout the trip. They lent me a spray jacket which was helpful, although the weather was so lovely I didn’t really need it. We saw both whales and a pod of super cute dolphins, but even if we hadn’t, it would have been a great trip. Jake, the skipper was very knowledgeable about all things whale and a great “driver” too!

Super cool experience

Super cool experience to do. The sea was rough so we got a bit nauseous. But they took that into account. Captain was very friendly and his deckhand very helpful. Found the spot with the whales. Super nice to see.
