This was a true adventure! Be prepared to crawl on hands and knees and through incredibly tight spaces. Our tour was several hours long and we were a group of 8. No one had previous experience caving but the guide was incredibly informative, supportive and helpful. Easy to panic but no one did! I recommend and would do it again.
The tour was very fun, taking us 40+ m deep into the cave system. The caves were dry, but the floor was clay so expect your shoes to get dirty scrambling around. The actual caving exceeded my expectations for difficulty, there were numerous passages we had to crawl and even worm through. Definitely not for the claustrophobic, but we were all stoked. Our guide Laszlo was super helpful, answering all our questions before we even thought to ask. He provided insight into the history of each chamber, as well as keeping us all chatting. I definitely recommend trying to get a tour later in the day or on the off season, our group of 6 was a perfect size, but apparently they can be up to 12 people.
When you book with Peter, you have to call, email, app, send a carrier pigeon, because he just completely forgets you. 20 men sad because they don't know how a reservation works. It will surely be a fun tour if you can do it. Too bad they don't come up with an alternative either. They make your problem out of their problem.

I spent 2 months travelling Europe and this was one of my absolute FAVOURITE experiences!! We had Szilárd as our tour/cave guide and he was simply delightful, making us laugh non-stop and encouraging us from start-to-finish, he really elevated an already-fantastic adventure! Recommend to anyone and everyone!

This was super fun! If you want a unique experience with an interesting and very experienced guide this is it! Laso our guide has 31 years experience caving and was super helpful in getting everyone thorough even the tightest spots in the caves (and there were a few REALLY tight spots). We were in a group of about 10 people and it was perfect. This was a challenging experience and definitely not for those that have issues with tight spaces. Good physical fitness is definitely a must. Also, wear boots or shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. You will get dirty! Great time though.
Did I forget to write a review? Omg, this experience was so worth it! Something I still talk about a couple years later! Great tour guide helped us get through all the tight spaces, keeping us calm, safe and giving us some great history about the caves and the history. Being claustrophobic this is something I never thought I could do, but so proud that I was able to keep it together and get through.
I actually went on the tour back in June of 2023. I was travelling alone and very nervous to go, never having caved before. Well I'm so glad I was brave that day. What an eye opening experience, with an inspiring female guide. Even giving us the chance to experience caving in complete darkness. This experience inspired me to take up caving back in the UK. I've just been out on my 150th trip, and cave regularly 2-3 times a week. I now have the skills to lead groups of people around caves myself, including complex rope work and have done some of the hardest trips in the UK. All thanks to Caving Under Budapest! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me find my passion. I don't know who I'd be without it.
A little challenging for people who aren't so young anymore but had a great time and the guide was awesome
