Fun experience
Very good experience. It could’ve been even better (see below).
First positives:
- I liked dune bashing. Thrilling and exciting experience
- the performance was awesome. All performers did really well. 6 out of 5!
Now things that could be improved:
- we had an extremely long collection. It took us over 2.5 hours to reach the point of actual event. I understand that we all were located in different parts of Abu Dhabi, but you could at least provide water during the journey
- quad bike experience is for those who never tried it. When I tried to have a bit of fun I got told off and my experience ended in 15 minutes instead of 30. I understand that the bikes can roll over but you could at least offer an option to sign some papers like “it’s my own fault if I fall or damage the bike “ …
- finally, strong desire to upsell an upgrade in the camp. Your Tripadvisor add doesn’t say anywhere that for a standard package drinks are only available from 19.30…

Do not book
We booked this trip because of the high scores on TripAdvisor. The driver picked us up 45 minutes late, so we had to wait in the hotel lobby. Furthermore, he was quiet and was on his mobile phone while driving. We were driving slowly and we stopped for 20 minutes in the desert before dune bashing for an inexplicable reason (both probably to kill time). The dune bashing itself was then very fun and even exceeded my expectations, and I also trusted the driver completely. Before going to the camp, we stopped for photos with a beautiful desert view. Once arrived at the camp, the scam began. We received a brief explanation from a man in the camp who asked if we wanted to pay extra to sit in worn-out seats that they called 'VIP'. This is where we would be served according to him. When we said we didn't want to pay, the man immediately turned his back to us as a sign of displeasure. Immediately after this first unpleasant interaction, a hawk forced my hands and took photos. Knowing that I would have to pay for it, I refused to go in the photo several times. To get money out of my hands, the cameraman then asked for a group photo, explicitly lured me into it, and later made me pay for it. The quads were €25 per person for a ride of no more than 15 minutes, where you could ride laps on a sand area about the size of a football pitch for the camp. In the booking there is a camel ride that could be upgraded to a longer ride by telling the driver. Before we started our included ride, I was happy to mention that we wanted the free ride. The man laughed and made us walk a 10-meter circle for a good 2 minutes, after which this 'included ride' was already on it. The last activity was dune surfing. Here you should slide down a wooden plank from a dune of 5 meters. When we re-entered the camp after the disappointing activities, we were offered a deal to sit in the 'vip'. We eventually went along with it out of discomfort. Once in the VIP area, the promised service turned out to be: people came to offer us souvenirs, food, and water. However, you had to pay again because the food they offered was separate from the buffet and the water tap had to be brought to the table. If you want the water pipe for free as promised in the booking, you have to wait until everyone is done eating and sit on the ground next to the toilets, on the other side of the camp. The opening of the buffet was only postponed (presumably to sell more of the food to be paid for). The food itself was decent but the shows were laughably bad. First, a 'world-famous dancer' performed the tanoura dance. This world-famous dancer also turned out to be a world-famous fire dancer since he also took on the fire show. There was also a belly dancer who danced as if she had just been plucked from the street and had never been on a stage before. Each act lasted 5 minutes at best but were so bad that I honestly can't complain about it. The men's toilets were among the dirtiest toilets I have ever been to. After the meal, we asked if we could use the complimentary water tap. The man responsible for it then reluctantly gave us the water pipe that he himself had been using in the past period. Eventually we were called by the driver who had decided that we had made him wait long enough and had to leave home. On the way back, he probably urgently needed to use the toilet since he was driving home at full speed. He flashed his headlights at cars that, in his opinion, were driving too slowly. The driver also forced a friend of mine to leave a 5-star review, which probably explains the high scores.

DON'T GO IT'S A TOURIST TRAP
Extremely bad experience. It promises all sorts of things but makes very little true. We were supposed to be picked up at 3:00 PM but he finally arrived at 3:45 PM. The ride to the desert was quite slow and after an hour we finally arrived. First our driver drove through the dunes, which was great, after which he stopped somewhere for photos. Once the photos were taken, the reason we went to the camp where upon arrival we were immediately pushed to pay for all kinds of upgrades, if you refuse, they treat you with very little respect. The promised camel ride is a circle of about 3 meters long, many of the promised things listed for the package are simply not true or you have to pay extra for them. It wasn't a barbecue either since the "buffet" consisted of three types of rice, vegetables, and a sauce. Free shisha was also promised, but when we asked for it, we had to pay a supplement or wait until after the meal, where you just get the leftovers from the staff. They force all sorts of things on you for which you should pay, and if you refuse, you are greeted by a face that expresses disgust. Overall, this was a very bad and disappointing experience and I really wonder where the high review score comes from.
