8-Day Classic Uganda Primates & Wildlife Tour

I'm a novelist and book three in my series will be set in Uganda. I needed to see and do specific things for my research, and Nkuringo Safaris organized a bespoke 8-day trip that included the 4-hour gorilla habituation experience. I traveled with my husband and one of our friends. The gorilla permit price was higher than we expected but it's set by the governement and out of the tour guides' control. I would say that the terrain is nearly vertical up and down the mountain as you track the gorillas, so you need a level of fitness to do it, and if you are petite like me, it's more difficult. But overall, we all agreed that it was one of the best trips we've taken. Our tour guide, Patrick, bent over backwards to make our experience memorable. My husband is now looking at a volano/trek/Murchison Falls National Park holiday, since we saw lots of animals but no rhinos on this trip. The rhino sanctuary is in the park. The food was wonderful and the people we met were incredibly friendly as well. Highly recommended.

We visited Entebbe for two nights staying at Papyrus Guest House for the shoebill stork tour, which was enjoyable - we saw the stork with a chick and countless malachite and pied kingfishers. We then travelled to Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge, which was superlative; excellent food and service. The two gorilla treks were fantastic - one approx 3 hours, another 4-5. Take a porter. Our last stop was at Turaco Treetops to see the chimps in Kibale. Our park guide, Bosco, was very knowledge and seemed to have a sixth sense about where we could find chimps that were not surrounded by crowds. Also worth a porter here. You sometimes follow elephant trails into the deep mud! Turaco is not as luxury as Nkuringo, but more than makes up for it with the wild setting. While the chimp trekking is a joint highlight with the gorillas, I would recommend selecting an activity distinct from the Bogodi wetland (eg golden cat night drive, afternoon chimp trek, birding). The walkway is in very poor condition and an easy way to break a leg, so you can’t look up to see your surroundings. Throughout, Remmy Kityo was our guide. He was fantastic: great company on the long drives; knowledgable about the wildlife, culture and scenery of Uganda we saw; put in lots of hark work behind the scenes to get us the best guides and groups to trek; and was very organised to ensure our trip had no logistical hitches. Thank you Remmy!

An absolutely fantastic trip to Uganda for gorilla and chimpanzee trekking! From start to finish, our guide, Remmy, made sure everything ran smoothly for us. This meant we could enjoy the trip to the maximum. I would certainly book again!

The week spent in Uganda with N'Kuringo Safaris was extraordinary. Everything was perfectly organized. Our guide, Oscar Frank, was very knowledgeable and allowed us to discover the national parks and their wildlife in the best conditions. Everything went very well. E verything was so smooth and easy. Our driver, Jack, was the absolute best. Every time anything went even a little sideways, he managed to get it fixed without a hitch. He completely improved the trip and was an absolute joy. We will miss him now that we’re leaving, but I cannot recommend this company enough.

We had a wonderful stay in Uganda thanks to our guide Emmanuel 🤩 the best driver and guide in the country! We visited the jungle, the savanna, and the mountain in one week, and the organization was perfect! We were very well received in the magnificent hotels; I can only recommend this organization! I cannot tell you how special this experience was. We were fortunate enough to be escorted by Milton and Emmanuel, both with Nkuringo Safaris. We spent most time with Milton who is, by far, one of the most brilliant people I know. He knows SO much about SO much it's unbelievable. He definitely made the entire trip much more memorable. We did spend 2 nights at the Nkuringo Lodge which, for a lack of a better term, is luxurious. Every night we had a fire in our room and hot water bottles in the bed. The staff is incredible and the food...outstanding! Last, but not least, the philosophy behind the enterprise is most noble. I encourage everyone to look it up and if you decide to see the Great Apes, contact this company!!

Obsessed with this tour! We finished up two days ago now, and I’m super sad! It was honestly the best trip, and we saw so much of Uganda. Remmy, our guid, was the best. Funny, kind and informative!! Always seemed to know what we wanted from the trip! Loved the chimps, gorillas and wilderness walk where we were immersed in the giraffe tower. This company has it spot on, and I couldn’t recommend them more. 8 days is great, I wouldn’t do a second less! Moreen in the office also met all our needs effortlessly. The whole tour was very personal, and perfect for us. 10/10

Firstly booking our trip to Uganda was so easy with the help of Moreen. She was extremely helpful and prompt with her reply emails. She was able to adjust our trip to suit our budget. Even with flight changes, she was able to change dates of the booked accommodation hassle free. We were lucky to have Remmy as our tour guide for the 8 days. He was so knowledgeable and made our experience fun. All of the accommodation we stayed at was of standard as requested. The whole trip was extremely well organised. My suitcase did not arrive in Entebbe on our flight from Johannesburg, and the entire team worked tiresly to ensure that my suitcase was delivered to me ASAP, allowing me to focus on enjoying my trip.
