It is a tiring walk, although not very large the altitude leaves us very tired. The arrival to the 1st Laguna seems never to arrive and is quite exhausting, but the beauty of the lagoons is incredible and only gets more beautiful. When you reach the last lagoon the beauty is indescribable.
The 7 Lakes of Ausangate tour was one of the most beautiful experiences in Peru. Each lake had its own unique color, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. The views of the snow-capped peaks were unforgettable and made every step worthwhile.
If you enjoy raw, untouched nature, this tour is an excellent choice. Each of the seven lakes has its own unique shade and character, making every stop feel special. The reflections of the surrounding peaks in the crystal-clear water provide incredible photo opportunities, especially in the early morning light. The journey itself is just as rewarding as the destination.
I joined the 7 Lakes of Ausangate full-day tour from Cusco on my own, and it turned out to be a very rewarding experience. The natural beauty of the lakes and surrounding mountains is truly impressive, and each stop offered a unique view. The guide was supportive and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the journey. The group was friendly, which made it easy to connect with others even as a solo traveler. Everything was well organized, from transportation to meals, allowing me to focus on enjoying the day.
Leaving Cusco before sunrise wasn’t easy, but this turned into one of the best days of my trip. The experience felt authentic and far from the typical tourist route. The visit is long, but the scenery constantly changes, keeping it exciting. Crowd size was reasonable, and once hiking started, everyone found their own rhythm. The atmosphere was refreshing and peaceful. The staff handled everything smoothly and made the day feel safe and enjoyable. Admission fee felt justified for such a unique location.
Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re happy you enjoyed the 7 Lakes of Ausangate Full Day Tour from Cusco. At Andina Expeditions, we love showing travelers the breathtaking landscapes of the Ausangate region and its beautiful turquoise lakes. It’s a unique adventure away from the crowds, and we’re glad our team made your day safe and memorable!
An excellent option is to exchange the Tour of Laguna Humantay for 7 Lagoons, we climbed it on horseback who were guided by the people of the village with their typical costumes, the ever attentive guide of those who were walking as if on horseback breakfast and lunch good and abundant the fascinating views of the APU Absangante without words and the 7 spectacular lagoons
Great views throughout the hike. There were not a lot of other people which made for a nice hike. As long as you have a sunny day, it’s well worth the $$. The ride to/from is quite twisty, so if you have motion sickness it’s best to take medicine with you. This is high elevation hiking, be prepared. Many opportunities for great photos.
Even with rain, getting up there and seeing the lagoons is indescribable! It's a wonderful view!!! They are 6km of climb (I found it very heavy to do, even more with rain) and return after more these 6km seemed endless... but every perrengue of the trail is worth the time to see the Lagunas! I just did not appreciate with maximum score for breakfast and lunch that include in these whole day tours, need to improve much the part of food!
What can I say that hasn’t already been mentioned in other reviews! We were lucky to go on a surprise private trip to the 7 Lakes of Ausangate with Anibal. He was fantastic; knowledgeable, humorous, well prepared and encouraging, we had a great day trekking the circuit in the mountains. Honestly can’t recommend this chap enough.
It is an incredible place with a lot of magic and mysticism for the locals, the smallest and deepest lagoon represents a spiritual place to the guides, there they stop in prayer. I recommend that you hire the packages in Cusco, you will save up to 50% of the cost offered on sites like Tripadvisor
