An unforgettable safari with Meru Slopes and our amazing guide Ombeni
We had a wonderful safari with Meru Slopes! 🐾 From the itinerary planning to the accommodation arrangements, everything was thoughtfully organised. The team was professional, responsive, and always happy to help. The pricing was reasonable, and the entire trip ran smoothly from start to finish.
🌟 A special thank you to our guide, Ombeni, who truly made this trip unforgettable. With over 10 years of guiding experience, he was incredibly knowledgeable and had an amazing eye for spotting wildlife. He could spot even tiny animals far in the distance that we would never have noticed ourselves! Whenever we casually mentioned an animal we hoped to see, he remembered and kept an eye out for it.
📸 Ombeni also knew exactly where to position the vehicle, giving us fantastic views and wonderful photo opportunities. One of the biggest highlights was witnessing the wildebeest river crossing just five minutes after arriving that morning. We felt incredibly lucky! 🦓
🌿 His knowledge of the animals, their behaviour, and the local plants was impressive. Whatever we asked, he always had an insightful answer. Each day’s route was thoughtfully planned, and his kind, friendly personality made spending time with him a real pleasure.
We came home with amazing photos and even better memories. Highly recommend Meru Slopes, and especially Ombeni, to anyone planning a safari! ❤️

Unforgettable safari with Meru Slopes Tours – absolute recommendation
We did a seven-day private mid-range safari with Meru Slopes Tours through Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti, and the Ngorongoro Crater – and were absolutely thrilled from start to finish. The entire trip was excellently organized and exceeded our expectations in every respect. We would recommend Meru Slopes without reservation at any time!
The organization in advance and the communication throughout the entire trip were already first-class. Leonard, who was responsible for the organization, was reliable and helpful at all times and ensured that everything ran smoothly. At no point did we feel that we had to take care of anything ourselves – from our perspective, a safari organization can hardly be better.
Another compliment also goes to our guide, Stanley. He possesses impressive knowledge about the animals, nature, and the national parks. We had an incredible number of questions, and Stanley took the time for every single one and explained everything patiently and in detail. At the same time, he had a great instinct for where and when good opportunities for animal sightings would arise (here it also pays off that the guides are connected via radio and share the locations of sightings with each other). He repeatedly put us in excellent positions so that we were "up close" to the animals and could take outstanding photos.
Thanks to Stanley, we saw all the Big Five – four of them even on the first day! We then discovered the rhino, as expected, on the last day in the Ngorongoro Crater.
Overall, we were apparently very lucky on our safari. An absolute highlight was the famous river crossing at the Mara River: We only had to wait about an hour and were then able to witness this spectacular natural spectacle. Stanley explained to us that the probability of even experiencing such a crossing on a given day is approximately 5–10%. We learned from other travelers that some had waited for four days without seeing one.
We will definitely not forget other encounters either: We saw a lioness immediately after a zebra kill and were even able to watch one evening as a lion took down a large buffalo not far from our camp.
The lodges were also excellent without exception. All accommodations were very comfortable, the food was great, and the staff everywhere was incredibly friendly and welcoming.
A small note for future guests: The visit to a Maasai village was fundamentally interesting for us, and we found it exciting to get an insight into the culture. At the same time, however, we had the impression that the visit was very strongly geared towards "cashing in" on the tourists. That we would like to donate something to the Maasai or the village was a matter of course for us from the start. We found it somewhat irritating, however, that various parts of the visit felt more like a staged "performance" to us, where money was requested more or less subtly in several places. Also, when buying souvenirs at the very end, which was additionally expected and initially presented as a contribution to the village's drinking water supply, prices were only given to us after we had selected the items, and then we were asked about our personal "budget." We found the manner in which this was done to be relatively unpleasant. We are explicitly mentioning this only as a note for other travelers – it did not in any way overshadow our overall fantastic safari experience with Meru Slopes.
All in all, this safari was an absolute dream experience for us. The organization, the communication, the lodges, the wildlife viewing, and especially the organizer Leonard as well as our guide Stanley were outstanding. We had the feeling that we were truly in very good hands with Meru Slopes and were simply able to enjoy the entire trip.
A huge thank you to Leonard, Stanley, and the entire team at Meru Slopes Tours for this unforgettable week! We would go on safari with you again at any time and can recommend Meru Slopes without reservation.

Amazing Tanzania Safari with our fantastic guide Patrick!
Amazing Tanzania Safari with our fantastic guide Patrick!
We booked this safari last minute in mid-September for a late-September trip, and we were so impressed with the whole arrangement.
Our journey started with Tarangire National Park on day one, then we headed to Serengeti. We spent 4 nights in Serengeti: 3 nights in central Serengeti and 1 night in northern Serengeti. At the end of our trip, we visited Ngorongoro Crater, which was absolutely stunning. We highly recommend spending more time exploring Ngorongoro Crater, it is breathtaking.
We were incredibly lucky to witness the great wildebeest migration. We spotted plenty of big cats including lions, leopards and cheetahs. We successfully saw the Big Five, the Ugly Five and Super Seven all on this trip! The tented camps we stayed at were really comfortable.
Our guide Patrick is absolutely brilliant with 19 years of safari experience. He is extremely knowledgeable and skilled at locating wildlife, getting us wonderful close-up sightings every day. He made our daily schedule relaxed and pleasant, and treated us like friends, making us feel at home.
He is incredibly attentive and careful. He always reminded us of important details, and never missed any belongings we left behind in our rooms. I even lost my glasses during the trip, and Patrick helped me find them!
I highly recommend Patrick as your safari guide. This was an unforgettable African adventure.

Unforgettable 7 day safari
We did the 7 day (5 full day) tour of Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro tour lead by Ombeni.
Where to start, for the price ($6900 for 3 of us) it was nothing short of spectacular - at most of the accommodations it felt more like a luxury tour than the mid range one we paid for.
Ombeni listened exactly to what we wanted, stopping at the best viewpoints, and managed to ensure we saw the big 5 plus a bonus of cheetahs and even spotted a Serval!
Expect a lot of driving on bumpy roads, but it’s all worth it when you see the animals - plus the scenery is nothing short of spectacular, particularly in Ngorongoro and the serengheti. All the national parks have distinct scenery which kept the drives interesting.
We also opted to do the Masai village and I for one was expecting it to be loaded with tourists but we were the only tourists there when we arrived and had a welcome dance and shown around the village by the village leader.
Operator response
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience! We’re delighted Ombeni helped make your safari so memorable, from incredible wildlife sightings to your authentic Maasai village visit. We truly appreciate your trust in Meru Slopes and hope to welcome you back to Tanzania!

Best Safari Tanzania ever
What. A. Experience. This was our best vacation ever, and we don't think it will be surpassed. We were on safari for 6 days, with 3 nights in the Serengeti. But that was far too little. We could easily stay for 2 weeks among the animals. Everything was so perfectly arranged, from the contact with Gift Tembo, to picking up the plane, but especially our guide Bariki. What a great man, guide, and from now on our friend. He has so much knowledge of the animals, the plants, he knows Serengeti, Tarangire and the Carter by heart. He really made our Safari, always a smile on his face. We also want to thank Meru Slopes very much for organizing everything, all our stays were SUPER, the food was top. No downsides!
Operator response
Warme groet,

Fabulous Trip and Exceptional Guide
We had a terrific experience with Meru Slopes and especially Gift Tembo and our guide Julius. Both were incredibly attentive and genuinely invested in our receiving an exceptional experience. We had numerous close encounters with Africa’s big game - it was truly remarkable. Additionally it was our 40th Wedding Anniversary which they ensured was celebrated at every lodge. Once in a lifetime trip! Thank you Gift and Julius!

Exceptional Safari Experience with MeruSlopes
I highly recommend MeruSlope Tours and Safari! I initially found our tour itinerary on Safaribookings.com and was connected with our travel coordinator, Gift Tambo. Gift was incredibly accommodating throughout the planning process. When we requested to add a night in the Northern Serengeti to our original itinerary, he arranged it immediately. He even managed a last-minute request for an Arusha City Tour on very short notice.
Our guide, Patrick, was exceptionally professional and brought over 10 years of experience to our trip. His eagle eyes spotted so many animals along the way. We saw a huge variety of wildlife, including the Big Five, many types of birds and even three different species of mongooses! To top it off, we got to witness the Great Migration in the Northern Serengeti, which was an absolute highlight.
Huge thanks to Gift and Patrick for an incredible, stress-free adventure. Don't hesitate to book with MeruSlopes!
Operator response
Thank you very much for your excellent review and recommendation. We’re delighted that Gift made your planning flexible and stress-free, especially with the added Northern Serengeti night and last-minute Arusha city tour. We’re equally pleased that Patrick’s experience and keen eye helped you discover the Big Five, diverse wildlife, and the Great Migration. We truly appreciate your trust and look forward to welcoming you back to Tanzania.

Big 5 amazing experience
We saw all the big 5 with our guide John who was an incredible guide. His eyes were so sharp and he saw leopards on trees, drove us to see rhinos, and waited patiently with us to see the wildebeest great migration on the maasai river. Lodging was really nice and was inside the safari/serengeti area so it was like glamping right where the animals live. Booking the safari was very smooth with Jerome and overall the people we worked with were all amazing
