We reached out right away to try to reschedule, and when that wasn’t possible, we issued a full refund to your booking platform the same day. On April 8, we also followed up directly with Viator to confirm that the refund had been processed on our end and to ensure it was being passed through correctly. In some cases, third-party bookings can take additional time for the refund to reach the original form of payment. That said, we agree it shouldn’t take this long and will continue to follow up to make sure everything is completed properly. We appreciate your patience and apologize again for the inconvenience.

After reviewing our communication, I can confirm that Anita from our team was in contact with you six times leading up to your tour, clearly outlining the itinerary as a private hike in Waimea Canyon and/or along the Nāpali Coast ridges — depending on conditions. The tour description also notes that while you’ll see Waipoʻo Falls (an 800-foot waterfall) from the canyon rim, this is a scenic overlook, not a hike-to-swim waterfall experience, which is only available on other parts of the island. Sea turtles, too, are found in coastal waters — not in the upland terrain of Waimea Canyon, which sits over 4,000 feet above sea level. Kauaʻi’s geography makes it impossible to cover all regions of the island in a single 6–7 hour tour without spending most of the time in the car. Our Hidden Gems hikes are designed to explore quieter, hard-to-reach areas within a single region — not to bounce from beach to canyon to waterfall, which would compromise the quality of the experience. Your guide came fully prepared for the tour that was described and confirmed, and it seems the disappointment stemmed from expectations that didn’t align with the actual tour content. That’s something we take seriously, and we’ve already reviewed how this tour is presented on third-party platforms to help avoid future misunderstandings.
