We'll visit Manhattan’s Central Park, see the impressive Andrew Carnegie Mansion (a.k.a. Itinerary
The walking tour meets on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
I'll describe the scenes filmed at each spot we come across while strolling through Carnegie Hill along 5th Avenue, Madison Avenue, and Park Avenue. "84 Charing Cross Road," "Six Degrees of Separation," "The House on 92nd Street," "Ransom," and "When Harry Met Sally" are just a few movie locations we'll visit.
We'll see the homes of such celebrities and literary figures as Ralph Lauren, Faye Dunaway, Anthony Bordain, Katie Couric, Stockard Channing, Madeline Kahn, J.D. Salinger, Truman Capote, Marlene Dietrich, Robert Redford, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Mike Nichols.
You'll be knocked out by the beautiful stained glass murals in The Church of Heavenly Rest where Keanu Reeves meets Charlize Theron in "The Devil's Advocate."
We'll catch a glimpse of a variety of waterbirds inhabiting the enormous Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir in Central Park!
Andrew Carnegie's former mansion is now the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, with a lovely public garden.
We get a peak at St. Thomas More church where Andy Warhol and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis were parishioners during the same era.
This museum's Châteauesque design contains over 30,000 pieces of Jewish art!
I'll point out the filming locations of movies such as "The International," "Cactus Flower," "Mr. Poppers Penguins," "Men In Black," and more! We'll also admire Frank Lloyd Wright's fantastic architecture.

Hello everyone, this is Christine Weston Chandler Sonichu Prime, half sister of Cole Smithey and i would like to inform you that Cole my own half brother misgendered me on purpose and refuses to accept that im a Transgender. He also refuses to visit our sick mother, despite loving him with all her heart and just lets us suffer for his selfish reasons. In the end he kicked me from his tour because he still believes the trolls that im a bad person. It is not too late to make amends Cole, Barbara is waiting for you. Regards Christine Weston Chandler Sonichu Prime
terrible. man was extremely full of himself. I wish I never went here. I hated it so much. particularly about his opinion about the barbie movie.
You are a troll. I never took you on my tour. Bless your heart.
Cole was a great tour guide. He was friendly and provided lots of interesting information. We learned a lot. This tour goes well with the Metropolitan Museum of Art tour, as they meet in nearly the same place.
Thank you so much for coming on my tour! I had a blast with you guys! So much fun!
I lucked out with perfect weather when I took Cole Smithey's walking tour of the Carnegie Hill section of the Upper East Side of Manhattan. But it still would've been fantastic in pouring rain. Beginning at the iconic Guggenheim Museum on Fifth Avenue, Cole's connection of architecture, sites where films were made and apartments where legendary film stars lived and still live, along with New York City history in general, helped me to connect to a part of Manhattan with which I previously considered myself very familiar but in reality had barely scratched the surface. Cole's knowledge is encyclopedic and interesting and he is an engaging and affable host. I highly recommend the experience to anyone visiting or local to NYC.
Cole gave a fantastic tour of Carnegie Hill that was full wonderful insight into neighborhood and all the film trivia that is nested within. Any film lover would be delighted and surprised by the great tales and facts that Cole has uncovered through a great amount of research. Highly recommended!
Thanks so much for coming on the tour! It was such a pleasure showing you so many of the great locations in this amazing neighborhood!
Cole's walking tour is great fun. Cole is super knowledgeable about the wonderful Carnegie Hill neighborhood. The reservoir, the museums, the architecture and the rich film history are all interesting. We highly recommend the tour.
Thanks much Mark! Have a great time in NYC!!!
As a devoted fan of walking tours in NYC this one is a highlight. I will now regard Carnegie Hill as a true neighborhood, rather than a walk-through on our way to museums. Cole's knowledge of his area, along with an incredible repertory of information about the history of film making in the area, makes for a fascinating 90 minutes.
Cole Smithey is a wealth of information and gives a great tour of the beautiful Carnegie Hill area of the Upper East Side! While this tour is perfect for movie buffs, it's also a wonderful peak into old New York and highlights architecture, Central Park, multiple museums along the museum mile. You'll hear about Truman Capote, Jackie O, Marilyn Monroe, Woody Allen, and so many more...You'll see the (current and former) personal residences of many celebrities, mansions, churches, and scenes from old and new movies-- All of this while taking in the gorgeous scenery of Carnegie Hill. Cole is also very entertaining and his quick wit and engaging personality make this a must-do for a unique NYC experience.
Thanks Heather for coming on "5th & Park"! I had a great time showing you around Carnegie Hill!
The 5th & Park Film and Fiction walking Tour with Cole Smithey was a one of a kind, not to be missed experience! Cole is extremely informative, entertaining and an enthusiastic guide. This was my first (and hopefully not my last!) trip to NYC and this walking tour was one of the highlights. Cole's exceptional tour introduced and connected me to NYC in a special way through the mediums of film and literature that I would never have experienced without the time spent on his unique walking tour. I loved it! This tour should be on everybody's "to do list" when they visit NYC.
Awesome! So happy you came on the tour, and had a great time. Come again! —Cole

I was amazed by all the history hidden around every corner and the unique facts and stories that Cole shared! Definitely would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a real look into the history of film in NYC or just anyone wanting to take a beautiful walk while learning more about Manhattan and it's exciting past! Cole is definitely an expert in his field and I enjoyed every minute of my tour!
Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review of my tour! It's such a joy to share Carnegie Hill with you.
