516 Arouca Bridge & Paiva Walkways Tour with Lunch from Porto

With stunning views, a little thrill walking across the bridge, and a nice walk along the riverside, this tour is definitely a must-do if you want a day off from the city. The food for lunch was surprisingly tasty, one of the best meals I’ve had in Porto! Our guide, Daniel, was so kind and fun to talk to, he really made the tour a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, part of the path is closed due to last year's wildfires, though this was clearly stated in the tour information. The alternative visit to the monastery was closed without our guide knowing beforehand, but honestly, it was completely fine since we were pretty tired by then anyway. Highly recommended!

We were very lucky to have Miguel as a travel companion for our group …and what can we say: It was simply mega 😊 Our day trip took us to Arouca to the Paiva Walkways and the impressive Ponte 516, a spectacular pedestrian suspension bridge high above the Paiva River. (Ponte Suspensa⁠) Afterwards, we continued with many wonderful impressions, a refreshing swim stop, delicious food, and of course, a small grappa at the end was a must – very funny and just the right thing after such a great day! 🥃😄 The visits to Aveiro and beautiful Costa Nova with its colorful, striped houses were also real highlights. Miguel was always helpful, attentive, in a good mood, and incredibly friendly. He took care of our group, was up for any fun, and with his likable manner, contributed significantly to making this day a special experience. Thank you, dear Miguel, for this great day and the many beautiful memories! We had a great time. Our tour guide Miguel was the best. Very knowledgeable and showed us a great time. Lunch was incredible and the bridge and walk were fantastic.

Andro our driver and guide was very informative and friendly and the tour was at the right pace. Walking the 516m bridge and pathways was a great experience and we really enjoyed the tradional Portuguese lunch.

A very nice day trip from Porto. Our guide Teresa drove us safely through traffic to the destination. On the way, she has already told a lot about the surroundings and the history of the place Arouca. We first made a coffee stop there and enjoyed all kinds of local sweets. Then on to the Suspension Bridge. A local guide tells how it was made and you get a short explanation of the do's and don'ts. A very nice special experience. Then a relaxed walk via the wooden paths and stairs in the middle of nature. (Downhill) Our guide Teresa told us a lot about what we encountered along the way. Afterwards, she took us for a delicious lunch (really recommended). Since we still had time, we visited the monastery and the museum in Arouca (the route over the hiking trails was shortened due to restoration work after the fire). Super day in a small group and with a very informative, cozy guide 🤩

Crossing the Arouca Bridge is an adventure not to be missed, and on the walk down to the river on the wooden walkways you can take in the fantastic scenery. The organisation with our friendly guide Petito, was perfect, and the opportunity to enjoy a picnic on the river bank is a great ending.

Pedro was our guide on a rainy August day in Porto! This excursion was fantastic for our family of 4 (2x adults, 2x 14 year olds). Pedro was friendly, shared thoughtful points along the trip and made the entire experience a highlight of our trip. The lunch was FANTASTIC, and the bridge was a WILD experience in the wind and rain. Our tour was slightly modified to include a stop at Arte Sacra de Arouca Museum after lunch. This was a short stop, and we appreciated Pedro’s insight into the history of the Monastery. In preparation for the excursion, the tour company (Detours Porto) communicated effectively, and even offered to pick us up at our hotel which was a nice touch! Thank you Pedro and Detours for a great day. We would definitely recommend this tour for anyone looking for a day trip out of Porto.

The experience was very good. Pedro, our driver and guide, was very approachable and attentive to us. Thanks to Pedro for letting us learn a little more about the history, culture, and gastronomy of the area. An incredible landscape and the food was excellent!

We had a great experience on our tour. The views from the bridge and the walkways were excellent. Our small group was comprised of my family of three, one other guest, and our wonderful guide Andre. The lunch was delicious and traditional to the local area. Our tour guide Andre was very knowledgeable and friendly and made the whole experience very enjoyable. We ended the day visiting the monastery and browsing through the local weekly market. I would highly recommend this tour.

I can say with total certainty that this has been an exceptional tour. Pedro our driver and guide managed in a few hours to have us discover landscapes, corners, and gastronomy impossible for a tourist... Pedro behaved like an authentic host. Thanks for everything.
