Journey to Egypt is an outstanding tour agency that we give the highest rating. We did a 9 day Splendid Cairo & Dahabiya tour along with five days in Jordan. Osama was always very prompt and patient responding to all of my questions and requests. They organized a private tour for my husband and myself and took care of us from the moment we arrived at the airport to when we left. Osama made sure that drivers and guides were available when we needed them. The guides in Cairo, with the Dahabiya Merit, and Abu Simbel were excellent and we learned a great deal from them. It is well worth having a guide to see the museums, pyramids, and sphinx in Cairo as well as on the boat and for Abu Simbel. The food was excellent on the Merit and we stayed healthy throughout our trip. We also added on a 5 day tour in Jordan that Journey to Egypt contracted with Sherazade, another excellent tour agency. We had an excellent driver, Ahmed, who took us to the sites in Amman, Jerash, Gadara, the Dead Sea, Mt. Nebo, Petra and Wadi Rum (staying in a bubble in the middle of the desert is not to be missed). Private guides were arranged for us in Jerash and Petra and we also paid for a guide at Gadara. Most of all, when we needed help because of the outbreak of the war, Journey to Egypt made sure that we were able to return safely to Egypt even though we had to re-arrange our travel plans with very little notice to fly out of Aqiba. We are very grateful to the staff of Journey to Egypt and Sherazade for their kindness, professionalism, and service.

We booked our entire Egypt trip through Journey to Egypt, and they partnered with the outstanding Merit Dahabiya fleet for the Nile cruise portion – what an incredible choice! From the initial inquiries, the communication with Journey to Egypt was exceptional: prompt, detailed, patient with all our questions, and truly professional. They made planning effortless and built our excitement from day one. We were delighted with a complimentary upgrade to the newest dahabiya in the Merit fleet, the luxurious Merit Star. It felt brand new, with elegant cabins, a spacious sundeck featuring a Jacuzzi, and breathtaking panoramic views of the Nile. The small group size created an intimate, serene experience as we sailed peacefully from Aswan to Luxor, watching magical sunsets each evening. Our Egyptologist guide, John, was outstanding. His profound knowledge of ancient Egyptian history transformed every visit – from the temple to Ramses II at Abu Simbel, the stunning Philae Temple in Aswan, the unique double temple at Kom Ombo, to the majestic sites in Luxor. He even knew about the transfer through the locks at Esna. His engaging stories and insights made the pharaohs' era come alive in a way we'll never forget. John also excelled at handling all logistics with utmost safety and efficiency: transfers, site entrances, transportation – everything seamless. He accommodated our special requests flexibly and ensured we felt secure at all times. Speaking of safety, Egypt far exceeded our expectations; our whole family, young children included, felt completely safe throughout, thanks to John's expert navigation and the professional crew. Of course local vendors and children will push you their wares on the street, which may get annoying, but never in a dangerous way. The onboard food was delightful – fresh Egyptian specialties mixed with international options – and the crew was overly attentive and friendly. If you're choosing between a large cruise ship and a dahabiya, go for the dahabiya: it's more authentic, relaxing, and intimate. Huge thanks to Journey to Egypt (another shotout to John, and one for Osama) for the flawless coordination and to Merit Dahabiya (especially Kareem and Essau!) for an unforgettable adventure. From the moment we were picked up from the airport in Aswan, this tour ticked all our boxes. John our guide was absolutely lovely, helped us with booking our train tickets and any other problems, was extremely knowledgeable and interesting and nothing was too much trouble. The boat and the crew were fantastic. The food was remarkable – fresh tasty and delicious. It is hard to describe how it feels to cruise down the Nile in your own boat while floating in your on board swimming pool!! Every outing was smooth well timed and well planned – we seemed to stay just ahead of the crowds and we saw everything we wanted to see. We did two options with tours – we did the Abu Simbel trip and the ballooning in Luxor and we enjoyed them both. We would’ve liked to have known that you could fly to Abu Simbel too, as it is a very long drive indeed. And the towel animal work on the dahabiya was EXTRAORDINARY!! Thanks to all!
