What travelers say
Our summary of the 100 most recent reviews out of 120 (Jan 2024 – Sep 2026), collected by Viator and Tripadvisor.
Most travelers say the crew makes this trip, especially at Stingray City, where they hold the rays and coach nervous guests through touching and feeding them. The recurring catches are a thin Starfish Point stop and occasional switches away from the advertised catamaran.
What travelers love
Friendly, informative crew50 of 100 reviews
The crew comes up in most reviews: welcoming, easy to talk to, full of facts about the island and its sea life, and careful that nobody felt hurried at any stop.
Hands-on stingray encounter31 of 100 reviews
Stingray City is the stop people remember. Crew members hold a ray so everyone can touch, feed, kiss or pose with it, and reviewers note the animals are handled with care.
Reef snorkeling worth doing16 of 100 reviews
The reef stop gets good marks for clear water, plenty of fish and healthy coral, with a few sightings of turtles and rays; some call it their favorite part.
Room to move on board12 of 100 reviews
Many describe a lightly loaded boat compared with the packed vessels nearby, sometimes only a dozen passengers, which made the day feel personal.
Patient with nervous guests10 of 100 reviews
Families with small children, older relatives, weak swimmers and people with limited mobility say the crew gave them extra help in the water and around the rays.
Where it falls short
Starfish Point underwhelms9 of 100 reviews
Close to one in ten found the third stop thin: few starfish, a short visit, and several would have preferred more time on the reef instead.
Boat swaps, aging vessel7 of 100 reviews
Some booked for the catamaran and were moved to a different boat, or found it motored rather than sailed; others describe the vessel as dated and short on seating.
Crowds at Stingray City7 of 100 reviews
Several note the sandbar is jammed with boats on busy cruise days. This is outside the operator's control, and the crew often brings rays to the group anyway.
Best for
Cruise passengers booking their own excursion
Families with young kids or grandparents
First-timers nervous about touching stingrays
Maybe not for
Travelers booking mainly to sail a catamaran
Snorkelers wanting a long reef session
Tips from past travelers
Cruise passengers say the check-in tent sits close to the tender dock; get an early tender ticket and keep phone service to text the crew.
Photos taken at the sandbar are sold separately, and a few found them expensive, so decide beforehand whether you want them.
Bring your own fins if you have them, since reviewers say masks are supplied but fins may not be.
Bad weather can shift the departure time or merge groups, so watch for messages from the operator the day before.
How we make this: we read the most recent reviews and sum up what travelers say again and again, good and bad. It is our summary, not a review; the reviews themselves are further down this page. Updated Oct 2026.

Does it work for cruise passengers?

Reviewers bring children as young as one and elderly relatives, and say the crew provided life vests, helped people into the water and steadied them around the rays. Several also mention a smooth ride with little seasickness, even on windy days.
Will I actually be on the catamaran?
Usually, but not always. A handful of travelers were switched to another boat when numbers were low or the catamaran was taken for a private charter, and a couple noticed it ran on its motor rather than under sail.

Don’t let the rain put you off
I was apprehensive at the start as it was raining and there was lightning in the distance as we boarded the boat.
As we headed out towards our first stop, I was questioning my life choices as the rain stung us and we were thoroughly wet within minutes.
And then we anchored at Stingray City. It was still raining but the water was warm. The stingrays were terrifying and awesome in equal measure. We touched them and got stingray massages and some of the bravest amongst us fed them squid. Their stings command a healthy respect but I did not feel unsafe.
The second stop was where we snorkelled over the reef. What an experience! Again, warm water. It was still raining but that didn’t matter as we saw such interesting creatures including a sleeping stingray. I was the last back in the boat but was not rushed at all.
Our third stop was Starfish Point. These creature are very interesting in that they are quite firm, eat by opening a few section on their underside and have no blood. Much like a lizard they are capable of regenerating parts of themselves if they are injured. We swam around here for a while and then climbed back up the ladder into the boat to head back.
Our tour time was brought earlier due to the weather and to consolidate those booked at various tour times into one group. This meant that we were back by lunch time and had a tour group of 12! With a boat that can take up to 80 passengers, we basically had a VIP experience.
I am so pleased that I decided to see the tour through as we were the only boat out on the water at each stop and we had a great time.

Disappointing- cancelled tour
They cancelled our trip 20 minutes before we were supposed to leave. This happened the day before we were scheduled to leave to go home. Very disappointing
Operator response
We understand your disappointment. All tours that day were cancelled due to high winds and rough seas. The safety of our guests and crew is always our top priority, especially with an infant onboard.
The cancellation notice was sent well in advance of departure not 20 minutes before, and a FULL REFUND was issued. While it’s unfortunate the excursion was scheduled for the last day of your vacation, weather is beyond our control, and safety must always come first. We recommend booking tours earlier in your stay whenever possible, as Caribbean weather can be unpredictable.

Alright
Crew was alright and trip was ok. The best part of the trip was the third stop. At Sting Ray City they take pictures of you and try to charge you crazy amounts to get them, so be prepared for this. Personally, I did not like the way the crew treated me.
Operator response
We're sorry that you felt the crew did not treat you well. Our team works hard to ensure all guests have a great experience, and with a full boat, their attention is naturally shared among everyone on board. While we may not always be able to provide one-on-one attention, our goal is always to be friendly, helpful, and attentive to all guests.
Regarding the photos at Stingray City, purchasing them is completely optional, and guests are under no obligation to buy them.

Catamaran for great snorkeling, helpful guides, and very educational stingray experience.
The Cayman Islands were amazing! The water was perfectly clear and the snorkeling was some of the best we have ever had. The crew was welcoming and kind. They were especially helpful during snorkeling, guiding us, feeding the fish, and keeping us safe. Stingray City was the highlight for sure. The crew provided us with our own personal experience with the stingrays. They were very knowledgeable. I wasn't a fan of starfish point, but that was no fault of the crew. Overall, the crew made the trip amazing. The boat needs some work, but they made sure the actual excursion wasn’t crowded, only taking out half of what the boat would actually hold. I was super thankful for that. The other boats seemed to be super crowded. All in all, the excursion was nice. I am glad it was a Catamaran, which is hard to come by unless you do a private guided boat tour. I would definitely do it again.
Operator response
Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review! We're so glad you enjoyed the clear waters, snorkeling, and especially your time at Stingray City—it truly is a highlight.
It’s great to hear the crew made such a positive impact, keeping you safe, informed, and ensuring a more comfortable, uncrowded experience. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the vessel and will take that into consideration.
We’re happy you chose to sail with us on a catamaran and would love to welcome you back again!
