With its fabulous dunes formed by wind-blown sand, Erg Chebbi is one of Morocco’s two Saharian Ergs, along with Erg Chigaga. Erg Chebbi, known as Merzouga, has majestic sand dunes that may up to 150 meters and cover an area of 50 kilometers from north to south. It is about 60 kilometers south of Erfoud town and 40 kilometers away from Rissani. Due to former caravan routes in this area, Sijilmassa was a prosperous, separate kingdom from the 8th to the 14th century.

Amazing trip with the family during three days and two nights with our driver Mohamed. He was very attentive during the long rides to take care of us and make our trip memorable. Everything was very well organized and met highly our expectations.
It was a magical trip. Our guide Mohammed had many years of experience plus he had genuine love for his job and his native country. This combined, provided a very rich 3 days where we learned and experienced Morocco. The scenery was amazing from the Atlas Mountains to the Saharra desert. From the Berber villages to the vast canyons and gorges. The food along the way was local and delicious - we never went hungry. As we spent a lot of time in the car (which was comfortable and luxurious - a Mecedes van), Mohammed was very open to stopping when we wanted to (or needed to!). The accommodations were really top notch highlighted by the tent in the desert. The experience in the desert, traveling on camel to where we slept, the scenery, the massive dunes, the sky full of stars, the chill at night, and the hospitality of the local people made it an experience that I will repeat. I will give this experience my highest recommendation.
Deep South Travel was a great find for our Sahara Desert tour. We chose the 3-day trip with a luxury camp night at Solei Camp, which was absolutely impeccable and an excellent choice. From the very beginning, communication with Mohamed was smooth and professional. He explained each stop in detail and clearly outlined everything included in the price. Our driver, also Mohamed, was friendly and shared his knowledge along the journey, making the experience even more memorable. We would definitely recommend Deep South Travel to anyone planning future travels in Morocco!
Absolutely wonderful experience! Our driver, Fares was so knowledgeable, kind, and considerate. Aziz walked us through Ait Ben Hadou with humor, energy, and knowledge of the amazing Kasbah. We met Navil in the Dades valley/Todra (sp) valley and he walked us through the beautiful gardens and Kasbahs. It was wonderful, so special and memorable! The camel ride into the camp was an experience unlike any we’ve ever had. Mohamed guided us on the camels, was so kind, and took fantastic pictures to mark the experience. The camp was beautiful, the drumming and dancing by the fire was absolutely wonderful! This trip will forever live in our hearts in the most special way!
We had a fantastic 3 day trip in the beautiful south east region of morocco. From my initial contacts with Mohammed, our trip facilitator, to the very last ones when we were wrapping up the very last details, I felt I was speaking to a real professional for whom my group’s needs were of high importance. Throughout this process, Mohammed has been available, flexible and all of our little requests ended up being Met. The tour itself was a treat. The team which came with us was good. The driver was very responsible and safe in his driving. The only improvement my group and I thought of is the amount of time that was actually spent in the desert. We ended up arriving right before sunset and left a bit after sunrise ( around 9). This did not leave much time for desert related activities. I would suggest the 5 day trip if it’s something of interest to you. Otherwise, the tour is set up to see the most beautiful things the region has to offer. The facilities in the desert were by the way extremely comfortable. Would definitely recommend trying this experience
Amazing experience visiting the Sahara and various stops along the way. Made all the better by having an incredible driver, Younes, who went above and beyond to make sure we were safe and enjoying our time. Would highly recommend.
Excellent, and well organised trip with many new experiences and interesting sights. Our driver Younes was friendly, looked after us well and provided insights and background info on Morocco and the surroundings and places we visited. Can highly recommend DST and the trip.
Exceeded our expectations. Always helpful and expert guide/driver Aissam made it a very smooth operation from start to finish. Other local guides along the way also very good. Many interesting stops. Desert was spectacular and the camp very comfortable Would highly recommend!
