First, we booked an English tour, but then we found out we were on a bilingual tour; this made certain activities longer because of duplicate explanations. Additionally, there are multiple different day tour lengths with people being picked up or added on different days. Lunches and Hotel Fees were not included but not that expensive, so might as well just include them in the price. Day 1 - At the hotel, we were herded like cattle into different buses with no idea what our tour guide's name was. Expect minimal bathroom breaks on this day. First travel was about 2 hours, then a 2.5-hour drive. Lunch was not included in the price, but we were forced to eat at their specific restaurant. Day 2 - vague outline of the day, over 2 hours on the road with no bathroom break. We were at the museum, and it was busy. There were no microphones with headsets like other tours, so we could not hear the guide half the time. Then we waited outside the museum for 15-20 mins while the guide bought books from the gift shop. Nice stop with some amazing pastries along the way. Day 3 - 2 hours later start so additional people could join the tour, which made the site and museum so crowded. Our guide left the museum to go to the site and was moving so fast he lost the group. About 30 people joined the group that already had 20 people on it—so crowded on the bus. Glad we were not there for Day 4. Had to wait over an hour after lunch to be combined with another bus on the way home. At this point, we found out our guide's name, Antonio, from the new guide taking us home (George). This new guide was great, and I think the experience could have transformed if we had him instead!
Dear Katie, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that some aspects of the tour did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify several points regarding the organization of the tour. Our hotel pick-up service begins approximately 45 minutes before the scheduled tour departure. The person accompanying the pick-ups is an escort responsible for collecting passengers from different hotels and coordinating their transfer to the departure point. There is no tour guide on the pick-up bus. Upon arrival at the departure point, passengers are organized according to their respective tours and coaches, which explains why guests may be coming together from different itineraries. Regarding meals and hotel/city taxes, these are clearly stated as not included both in the tour description and under the exclusions. Lunch stops are arranged at local restaurants along the route between destinations, allowing passengers the opportunity to have a meal during the journey. There is no requirement to purchase lunch, although the group stops at a designated restaurant for convenience and time management. We would also like to clarify the comment regarding bathroom stops. Restroom facilities are available immediately after the hotel pick-up at Amalia Athens Hotel, before departure. A further stop is made approximately 1.5 hours later at the Corinth Canal, our first sightseeing stop, followed by restroom opportunities at the various archaeological sites and museums visited during the tour. This is a three-day escorted coach tour covering a considerable number of destinations, archaeological sites and museums. Consequently, driving time between cities is an essential part of the itinerary and is clearly reflected in the tour program. The itinerary is designed to allow visitors to experience several important highlights of Greece within a limited number of days. With regard to the bilingual service and different tour durations, these arrangements are part of the advertised organization of the multi-day program, allowing passengers joining or leaving at different points to travel together where applicable. We are pleased to hear that you had a positive experience with George, and we will certainly share your kind comments with him. We appreciate your feedback and hope that these clarifications provide a better understanding of how the tour is organized. Thank you Hara Kritikidou Customer Service Manager
This trip was very well organized. It was a small group of 8 people, the transportation, accommodation and food provided well exceeded my expectations. Joy, our guide for the trip, was probably one of the best and knowledgeable guide I conversed with in my lifetime. I wish I had recorded all that she covered during this trip. This trip is well worth for her explanation of the nitty gritty of these places which were one of the earliest civilizations on the surface of the earth, yet giving birth to modern medicine, math, philosophies, sports etc.
We had three extra days in Greece during Easter holiday week following a cruise and decided to sign up for this trip as it was going to several important sites that we wanted to see. What a good decision. Our guide, Stavros, was really good. We happened to be on the French/English tour and he easily went back and forth between the two languages. It was clear to me that both groups got the same complete information. His knowledge of the sites and Greek history really made me want to learn more. We had a good group of fellow travelers. Our driver was very calm and skilled. We could only do the 3 day tour- wish we could have done the 4 day that included Meteori.
We absolutely loved this three-day excursion - which was the highlight of our holiday in Greece. We were travelling as a family of four (with two kids aged 7 and 9). We saw so much of the country and learnt lots about Greek history and culture. Our guide (Joy) was truly exceptional (and great with the kids!) and the hotel accommodation and food was good quality. Very well organised, and great value overall, we would highly recommend CHAT tours.
Our guide and driver were excellent- knowledgeable, kind, and very helpful. I upgraded my hotels- the first night the hotel was underwhelming as it was far away from the town and therefore we were quite isolated; the second night the hotel was more up to date and was a 15 minute walk to a very cute town. The meals were standard fare, but I was disappointed to discover I had to pay $6 Euro for a coffee after dinner. The itinerary was well planned and structured so that there were adequate water and snack breaks, and so the information we were receiving didn’t get overwhelming. My only criticism: We finished our third day’s activities at 1:00, had lunch- and then had to wait until 4:30 to join another group to get back to Athens. This was a total waste of time as there was nothing to see or do at the isolated restaurant we were at. It also meant we didn’t get back to Athens until after 7. Clearly, this has to be rectified for future clients- and is why I would not recommend the tour.
Dear client, Thank you for your detailed review. We’re very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your guide and driver, and that you found the itinerary well-paced and thoughtfully structured. Creating a comfortable experience with the right balance of information, travel time, and breaks is something we place great importance on. Regarding the hotels, even when upgrades are selected, accommodations in these regions of Greece are often located slightly outside town centers, especially in smaller destinations. This is quite typical for organized tours, though we understand that proximity to town can make a difference in the overall experience. With respect to meals, beverages such as coffee are not typically included in hotel dinners, which is standard practice, but we appreciate that this may come as a surprise and will consider how we can communicate this more clearly. As for the waiting time before the return to Athens, this relates to the structure of the combined tour service, where transfers are coordinated with other departures. This approach helps keep the itinerary efficient and avoids very long travel days; however, we do understand that the waiting period may feel inconvenient. Your feedback is valuable, and we are reviewing ways to improve this part of the experience for future guests. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us refine both our service and communication. Thank you Hara Kritikidou Customer Service Manager
Well paced, informative. Minivan very nice, comfortable. Guide an expert in Greek History. Incredible value, hotels nice. Incredible value. Great sampling of Greek sites.
We were very lucky and had the best experience mostly because we got the best tour guide, Joy, from CHAT TOUR. Joy speaks beautiful English with American accent which made us so comfortable and easy to understand. She is so knowledgeable and has extremely good ability on storytelling. She articulate so well about Ancient Greece’s mythological and historical stories. We love her and agree that she is the best tour guide we ever had. The bus driver is also very experienced and made our bus trip so smooth and pleasant. CHAT also arranged very good hotel for us. We were a group of 11 and had a driver and tour guide. We feel very much appreciated for they made my Greek experience best.
We had a great experience on this 3-day trip. Our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide gave us a deeper understanding of the sites so we could better appreciate their context with Ancient Greece and today. Our bus driver was a first class professional and the bus was clean and comfortable. We chose first class overnight accomodations and were not disappointed. This trip was well worth the investment.
This was one of our highlights of Greece. We hadn't really done a bus trip like this before and we found it to be really well organised and engaging. The itinerary was well spaced out with plenty of stops. Our guide was excellent and really made the difference between seeing a historical site and understanding it. My favourite places were Olympia and Delphi. I'd seen people online say that Olympia wasn't worth it but the guide was so good at explaining the site that I actually loved it. The accommodation was also fantastic, especially Delphi. We had beautiful views down through the valley. I would highly recommend this trip.
A good overview of the major archaeological sites. Plenty of time to visit both museums and sites. The administration of the tour was a bit chaotic at the beginning but once we got going it was fine. The hotels were rather dated but mostly adequate
