Kudos to Rail Tours Ireland
On the morning of the 15’th of June we met our tour guide, Norman Foster at the Heuston Station in Dublin, Ireland. For the next three days he met everyone of our needs in such a extraordinary way. His care to the needs of his clients was unsurpassed in any other tour we had in our three weeks in the United Kingdom. His unparalleled concern that we see the richness of Ireland was remarkably touching. Norm exemplifies the pinnacle of qualities as it relates to customer service. We would not hesitate to share this knowledge of our experience with others. Norm truly demonstrated the world reputation of your organization. At the end of the tour we chanced upon Anthony O’Connell, also from your company who provided us a additional and invaluable customer service assist! Thank you!!
Operator response
Thank you so much for the kind words, both Norman and Anthony will be absolutely delighted. Delighted to hear Ireland set the bar, but please note that Ireland is not a part of the UK.
We hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back on tour with us in the future!
Kind regards,
The Railtours Ireland Team

The only regret we had was not doing the longer tour!

Wonderful 3 day trip around the South West coast of Ireland
My husband and I recently returned from our 3 day trip with Railtours Ireland First Class and we had a wonderful time.
This overnight tour gave us the opportunity to see Ireland in a different light. We stayed in Killarney for 2 nights. Killarney is an amazing Irish town - the vibe, mood, culture, restaurants, shops, people are wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fairview Hotel.
David was our tour guide and he is full of Irish knowledge. You can tell he has a passion for this job and enjoys being able to share the history of Ireland. He made sure we were always taken care of at every stop, gave recommendations of restaurants in Killarney, gave us his phone number for emergencies.
All of our stops were beautiful and full of history.
We had one rainy day when we went around the Ring of Kerry but we all made the best of it and still came home with beautiful pictures of the scenery.
We had one little mishap with our accommodations in Killarney but they were quickly addressed by the company and never spoiled a second of our trip.

Sightseeing bus cruise
I do wish there was more time with the activities and more time at each stop. It sort of felt like a cruise, by bus. I could not access a detailed itinerary before the trip, and had I known how little activity time there was I would have booked a different tour. There was more time spent on the bus than on the train, and certainly more than we spent at any of the activities. I also noticed a few times we were late to start or the plans changed, and many of us were wondering what was going on. We did not receive a contact number for our guides, or any way to contact them except through the main tour company line. At one point our taxi was running late, and we were set to meet at a very early hour. All of us were waiting at separate hotels, and it was so early the agency was not answering (likely not even open yet). We just had to wait and hope for the best!
The tour guides themselves were great though! Andrew was stellar, has great sense of humor which added to the fun, and genuinely cared about us having the best time he could provide. The hotel accommodation in Killarney surpassed my expectations. The tour guides also made sure everyone was accounted for, before departing all stops, and our safety was obviously their top concern.
Overall I think this tour was good, maybe best suited for a solo traveler or couple who likes to sit more than walk or stand, and wants to sightsee mainly via bus.
Operator response
Dear Elizabeth,
Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed our hosts' hospitality, especially Andrew's, and that your accommodation in Killarney exceeded your expectations.
We are sorry to hear the tour pace didn't quite match your preferences. It is designed as a highlights experience, with travel time between locations, which works well for most travellers but may not have been the best fit for you.
We're glad you still found value in your trip, though we are disappointed to receive your rating.
All the best,
The Railtours Ireland Team

Spectacular western side of Ireland
My two friends and I had a great time on this well plan three day tour. Our host Peter was the best. He was informative, humorous, and always in a good mood and watching out for everyone. I would recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see the west side of Ireland, along a beautiful unique stretch of coast with a finale, worthy, the Cliffs of Moher!
Well done and thank you….

Great time
We really enjoyed this tour and the stops to see places we would have never known or come across on our own. Our tour guide John was excellent, shared lots of interesting and helpful information along the way. He also went above and beyond to make sure everyone knew the plan and was taken care of.

Ireland nice memories
This three-day tour to Blarney, Ring of Kerry, and Cliffs of Moher was thoroughly enjoyable and helped us to see beautiful sites and learn interesting facts about Ireland. Railtours Ireland First Class (the tour organizer), ensured that all there days were logistically pleasant. All the tour guides (Todd, Sheila and Dave) were very knowledgeable and shared with us lot of Irish history and information meant to think about visiting this country again.
Transportation was well organized and comfortable (train and coach). Accommodation, we stay at International Hotel in Killarney, not super impressed: the front desk very stiff and not welcoming (we learned on our own that to use plugs in the room needs front desk to turn on , as well as the heat in the room or the towel dryer in the bathroom ( the nights were quite chilly and the towels were still dump in the morning , the shower water barely warm not hot) . The breakfast another disappointment: first morning we came to the breakfast lounge after a large tour group – we’ve been served with plates of “Irish breakfast” scorched dry over kept warm probably leftovers from the previous group. When I asked the lady waiter why my plate was incomplete (only one egg comparing with my wife’s two eggs) she laughed “because she’s luckier than you” (no comment) – Other member of our group were hosted at Killarney Avenue Hotel near by and they were surprised to learn about our experience comparing with their high satisfaction.
In the future we’re going to book this tour directly with Railtours Ireland First Class. We have made reservations using TourRadar (middle company whole seller) and we’ve experienced communication issues prior to the trip, trying to get additional information and details.

A Well Organized and Interesting Tour
We rode the train more than I first expected. I actually enjoy train travel. It is a nice ride and the coach cars have tables between the seats. The Railtours guide was extremely well organized and knowledgeable. Everything went like clockwork. The highlight for us was seeing something that was not on the itinerary - a sheepdog presentation during our day on the Ring of Kerry. Our accommodations were the best we had in all of the 16 days we traveled around Scotland and Ireland. ~ Guy B., Idaho, USA
