It was located on a rocky outcrop in the waters of the river, opposite the old beach of Belém, and was intended to replace the old artillery ship, anchored in that stretch, from where the fleets departed for the Indies. His works were in charge of Diogo Boitaca, who, at the time, was also directing the already advanced works of the neighboring Jerónimos Monastery.

Also called Central Tejo and built between 1908 and 1951, it represents an old thermoelectric power station that supplied electricity to Lisbon. It is a unique building in the architectural panorama of Lisbon, and one of the most beautiful examples of industrial architecture from the first half of the 20th century in Portugal.

MAAT is a contemporary art museum. Building classified as a Property of Public Interest, it consists of two poles: the old Central Tejo and the New Building.

Also known as the Monastery of Santa Maria de Belém, the Jerónimos Monastery is a Portuguese monastery, built at the end of the 15th century by King Manuel I. The 25 de Abril Bridge is a road-rail suspension bridge over the Tagus River that connects the city of Lisbon (north bank) to the city of Almada (south bank). Until 1974, the 25th of April Bridge was called Ponte Salazar. The name 25 de Abril alludes to the revolution of 25 April 1974. The works began on 5 November 1962, having been inaugurated on 6 August 1966.

Praça do Comércio, still commonly referred to by its former name as Terreiro do Paço, is a square in downtown Lisbon, where it was the palace of the kings of Portugal for about two centuries and which today is partially occupied by some government departments. It is one of the biggest squares in Europe. It was for a long time the noble entrance to Lisbon and, on the marble steps of Cais das Colunas, coming from the river, heads of state and other prominent figures disembarked and were received. In the center of the square, you can see the equestrian statue D. José, erected in 1775 by Joaquim Machado de Castro, the main Portuguese sculptor of the 18th century. On the north side of the square is the Arco Triunfal da Rua Augusta, the entrance to downtown.

Pass by

The Cathedral of Lisbon, or Church of Santa Maria Maior. It is the seat of the Patriarchate of Lisbon and the Parish of the Sé. Its construction began in the second half of the 12th century, after the city was conquered from the Moors by D. Afonso Henriques, and today it presents itself as a mixture of architectural styles. It has been classified as a National Monument since 1910.

Pass by

Alfama is the oldest and one of the most typical neighborhoods in the city of Lisbon. Its name derives from the Arabic al-hamma (الحمّة), which means 'source of warm waters, good waters'. The neighborhood is frequented daily by Portuguese and foreign tourists, being considered the smallest in the entire city of Lisbon. It is known for its restaurants and fado houses, as well as for the festivities of Santos Populares, especially on the night of Santo António, from the 12th to the 13th of June.

Relaxing afternoon

This is a totally relaxing way to avoid crowds and learn about Lisbon! Our crew João and Teresa were so kind and fun and informative. It was my 4 boys 25-17 favorite thing we have done in Lisbon! I found it on Viator and I can’t recommend it enough! Probably wish we had done a sunset cruise, but 3-5 was also great!

A Peaceful Escape on the Tagus River

My friends and I live in Lisbon and wanted to get out of the heat and, for me, celebrate the 4th of July. Pedro and Tiago made our 2-hour journey along the Tagus River so enjoyable. They kept us supplied with cold beverages, creating the perfect, relaxing trip. There wasn't loud, pumping music to ruin the peacefulness, which we really appreciated. Pedro also shared some history along the way that we didn't know, along with a few of his favorite local places to eat. It was the perfect morning, and I'll definitely be adding this to my list of things to do when guests come to town or when the city heat is unbearable. Thank you, Pedro!

Operator response

Thank you so much for such a thoughtful review! It was a real pleasure having you and your friends on board, and I’m very happy to know that you enjoyed the morning and found the experience so relaxing. And of course, I was happy to share a little of Lisbon’s history and a few of my favourite local spots along the way! It was lovely to be part of your 4th of July celebration, and I’m delighted to hear that you’ll be recommending us to friends and family visiting Lisbon. We’ll be very happy to welcome you back whenever you need a break from the city heat! Thank you again, and see you next time on the Tagus! ⛵️

Amazing harbour tour!

This IS the best way to not only see the coastlines of the north and south banks of the Tagus River, but also to learn about the sites! The captain was SO informative (and entertaining) - even caught the attention of my three adolescent sons. Such a beautiful, smooth ride and this was on a very windy day. It was just my family of 5 on board so easy to take photos of the sites as no one else was blocking our camera 🙂. Highly recommend!

Operator response

It was a pleasure having your family on board, and we truly appreciate your recommendation. We hope to welcome you all back to Lisbon and the Tagus again in the future!

Best experience I've had

It was one of the best experiences I have had in recent times, we were accompanied by Maria and João who are two incredible people and very friendly, it was very worth the comfort, the walk, the team. I gave 5 stars because I can't give more, but I'm very grateful for the attention and for making this experience as amazing as it was. Thank you and congratulations to the company and the two who guided us and we will definitely return. Thank you
