Description
Step into a real Mexican home in Playa del Carmen and roll up your sleeves for this hands-on experience, where you'll learn to make traditional drinks and appetizers.
During these three fun-filled hours, you’ll mix four iconic cocktails — from a tangy Paloma to a refreshing Margarita — each paired with a local appetizer made on the spot, like ceviche, guacamole, or crispy empanadas.
Guided by a lively host in a cozy Playa del Carmen home, you’ll discover how Mexicans turn simple ingredients into moments of celebration.
Between sips and laughs, you’ll get insider tips, cultural tales, and maybe even a new favorite drink.
By the end, you won’t just learn recipes to recreate back home for family and friends — you’ll take home memories, flavors, and the kind of warmth that makes every toast unforgettable.

Awesome night with awesome drinks/food
I went with my partner and friends, we had such a great time. We played little games that taught us about Mexico and we learned a lot of surprising facts. The appetizers and different foods that Lily brought out were delicious. We all had a great time preparing our own drinks and it was super fun. Lily was awesome, so welcoming and friendly, I would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants a more authentic experience. Thank you Lily!!

Great tequila drinks and company
The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time discussing Mexican food and culture. The activity is hosted at one of her homes. The recipes for the appetizers were quite simple but enjoyable. The drinks were excellent and easy to reproduce at home which for me adds to the value. They waited until our taxi came to pick us up which was very kind. Keep in mind it’s about a 15 min drive from Playa Del Carmen’s downtown.

Thank you for the kind words. We are glad the hosts made the afternoon friendly, relaxed, and easy to enjoy 🍸 Cheers, Maira from Cook in Fiesta

Had a great time with Lily!
Lily was a great time and loves to entertain, appetizers were great and the drinks were better! For the price of the experience we couldn’t have found something better to do. Learned A LOT about Mexico through her games she had set up without being just bored by information. Classes were also super small (just my girlfriend and I) making it more of a personal experience. I would absolutely recommend a class with Lily!!

That sounds like such a fun and personal experience. We are glad Lily kept it lively, informative, and memorable 🥂 Cheers, Maira from Cook in Fiesta

Dissappointed
Wasn't as expected. Liliana lovely and knowledgeable about history however this was not what we booked for. Experience only lasted 2 hours maximum not 3 and whilst the 2 cocktails were nice rest were shots and snacks were literally nuts, mango, a Mexican vegetable, guacamole with nachos (which was delicious by the way) No meat or fish or tacos or quesadillos. Enjoyed but not good value at all.
Operator response
Thank you for your feedback.
We're glad you enjoyed Liliana's hospitality and knowledge of Mexican culture.
We'd like to clarify that this experience is our 2-hour Drinks & Appetizers Workshop, not a full cooking class. The menu focuses on traditional appetizers paired with regional drinks, exactly as outlined in the activity description.
We're sorry if you expected additional dishes beyond those included in the menu. We always encourage guests to contact our customer service during or after the experience if something seems unclear, as we're often able to resolve misunderstandings before they become disappointments.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.
Cheers!

An unfortunate booking
Although this was a group class, we were the only two to show up for a class in a tiny apartment with a French chef who learned to cook a few things from her Mexican friends. She has been in Mexico for 4 months. She makes everything for u except the guacamole and the tacos -tortillas as premade. She does make you a margarita and a drink with Clamato juice with vodka or beer. It was just awkward. Perhaps a larger, younger group would enjoy it more. The chef seemed sad that we didn’t drink more, but we were just ready to leave. The menu was premade imitation crab on crackers, guacamole, and tacos.
Operator response
Thank you for your feedback.
We're sorry the experience wasn't what you were expecting.
This activity is designed as a relaxed drinks and appetizers workshop hosted in a local home, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy authentic recipes in a personal setting rather than a restaurant or professional culinary school.
The menu, duration, and hands-on activities matched the experience described in the listing. We understand this style may not be for everyone, but we feel your review reflects personal expectations more than the experience that was actually booked.
We appreciate your visit and wish you all the best.
Cheers!
