Good walking/historical tour of downtown Denver

This was a good, well-organized tour of downtown Denver. We visited sites of local interest, including from Denver’s earliest days to its more recent development. The tour guide was well-informed but seemed uncomfortable straying from his script. Overall, a good experience.

Unprofessional Communication

Received message from tour guide stating that there were not enough participants to operate the tour unless two more people booked the tour and then heard nothing more, so believed the tour was canceled. Then followed up when we did not receive a refund to be told we did not show up. A series of texts ensued that were completely unprofessional on the part of the tour guide. Still owed a refund, and honestly, an apology.

Operator response

Hi Sherri, I text you as soon as I could to inform you that people had cancelled for Monday (the next day) and that if no one else joins the tour, it will be cancelled, and if that happens, you will receive a full refund. I did this so that you wouldn't be surprised if the tour was indeed cancelled the following morning so that I wouldn't get a bad review for cancelling a tour even though it's posted WHEREVER I can and in anything they send you that it MIGHT be cancelled if there are not enough passengers. Now at this point I HAD NEVER CANCELLED THE TOUR. Others joined the tour, the tour was never cancelled, you didn't show up. You text me you never recieved a refund on Tuesday. Now, originally I thought you were the people from Sunday that had booked themselves twice. I spent 15 minutes with them telling them how to get a refund, maybe more. So when you texted that you hadn't recieved a refund (you wouldn't get one that quickly anyways, as you booked 3rd party and I have no control over how quickly they process a refund), I text back that you needed to contact however you booked to receive a refund. While it was concise, it was professional, there was no need for a very verbose response. When I got home, with only your phone number to go on, I looked up your reservation and saw that you didn't show. I informed you as such. Then you went on about how its my duty to inform you that the tour was still on. You complained that the I never notified you that the tour was going forth. I thought it was pretty clear that it COULD be cancelled. People had joined. Now what wouldve happened if people joined then cancelled? (That happens more often than you'd think, booked the wrong date etc). I'd have had to contact you tell you that the tour that I never cancelled was still on, then cancelled again because people cancelled again. I informed you that we would have notified you if the tour was cancelled and that you contact however you booked and ask for a full refund. You then said you'd forwarding my communication to Viator and leaving negative feedback (ie threatening me with a bad review). I had every intention of providing you a full refund even though you not showing up was not my fault. You then lied to them and said I never showed up and made it seem like I had canclled the tour. I can read the refund request. They asked me if the tour operated, it did operate. Then did you show up? You did not. I also provided them with EVERY screeenshot of the conversation. You continued to harass me for HOURS via their chat system. For those interested, here is the complete text. _______________________________ You: Still have not received our refund. Me: Hi, you have to contact how you booked and request a refund as I don’t have a way to do that. Me: Hi. I am looking at your reservation . You never showed up. We never cancelled the tour as 2 more people joined it. I was letting you know ahead of time it could be cancelled unless others joined You: You never notified us that the tour was going forth. Me: We would have notified you if it was cancelled. You can contact however you booked and ask for a refund (the rest of the text didnt finish due to autocorrect because I was walking my dog) You: I will be forwarding your communication to Viator and leaving negative feedback. Feel free. I was communicating with you that it COULD be cancelled. Not that it was. You leaving negative feedback because you didn’t show up is on you Why threaten me with a bad review? Why make a bad review when I was offering you refund? I didn't even get a chance to apologize for a miscommunication (on YOUR END) and you threatened me with a bad review. You are the EXACT person that would've left a bad review had I canclled it in the morning, which is EXACTLY what I was trying to avoid. Damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess. Have the day you deserve.

Our guide was fantastic!...

Our guide was fantastic! His voice was loud and clear. The hearing device provided worked well and was easy to use. I appreciated the brief stop for coffee and a croissant. After taking this tour I was able to visit some areas our guide suggested,

Fun, informative - found spots that helped make the visit memorable

I circled back to the area and some specific spots that I found interesting during the tour. Tour leader was fun, well-informed and clearly loves the City. He took the time to answer questions and offer recommendations and advice when possible. Meeting spot at Union Station was convenient and easy to reach via the free 16th St shuttle bus. Well worth the time!!

Well worth it!

Will was an outstanding tour guide, so knowledgeable and personable. There were just 2 in our party, but the overall size of the group was just right. There were plenty of opportunities to use “the facilities” or take a sitting break, plus we were lucky enough to enjoy beautiful weather. Time and money well-spent!
