Itinerary
From the Information Centre, you will go to the Mont by free shuttle or on foot, depending on your choice. Your guided and told tour will last two hours through the cobbled streets of the village to the foot of the abbey. You will then know all the secrets of this unique site: the tides, the dam, the bay ecosystem, the entire history of the Mount, from its construction to today, its legends with an experienced guide who will make you love this place and will amuse you with funny and exciting anecdotes. Great guide. He explained the history and a lot details. You are required to climb many steps. I recommend that you start early in the morning.

A bucket list dream come true… Our marvelous tour guide Alice of Avranches walked us up the hill and through the history and mysteries of this magnificent monument to human faith and achievement. Our weather was perfect and the views both above and below were spectacular. Although it was very busy during this holiday season tour, Mont St. Michel did not disappoint…
Mont Saint Michel is visually stunning. It was worth the drive. The hike up to the abbey was tough, especially on a very hot day. Our guide stopped along the way to give people a chance to catch their breath while he shared some of the history of the place. The abbey was not nearly as ornate as other Catholic cathedrals we have seen, but the views from the outside porch were impressive. We ate a late lunch at a restaurant on the way down. French air conditioning leaves a lot to be desired. Walked out on the sand that surrounds the mont and watched the tide begin to come in. Had to wait for 20 minutes or so in a long line to shuttle back to the parking area once we were done, and no AC in a very crowded bus. Bring your walking shoes when you visit Mont Saint Michel and plan on a shower as soon as you get back to your hotel.
