Had the best two day tour seeing the golden monkey and gorillas! Was on a solo trip and was accompanied with Maurice as my guide, and the entire experience start to finish was excellent. The folks at Shalom safaris helped me to get permits for the activities during the high season even with relatively short notice. Maurice made sure that I got to all the activities on time and with the gear I needed to be prepared. He was also an excellent conversationalist which made the trip that much more memorable! Was definitely a splurge but when you see how carefully curated the gorilla trekking experience is to limit the number of visitors and make the experience meaningful and good for both the gorillas and the animals you understand the price, and to me it was totally worth it! The golden monkeys are also incredible and was so great to have them on the tour too! Only thing I would have done differently was extend my trip by one day as the first day leaving Kigali is a very early pick up that may have been nice to avoid and spend more time relaxing in Musanze.
