2 Day Tambopata Jungle Express Tour

I booked the 1N/2D tour as a solo female traveller. The tour started off great, but I was assigned a room at another lodge 20 mins down the river as apparently Paradise Yakari was full. I booked the tour two months in advance and was not notified of this until I was there. I was the only person in my group to be assigned the other lodge, and I was there alone apart from the lodge staff another group that was not affiliated with Paradise Yakari. I ate meals alone (while everyone else had communal meals at the other lodge - as a solo traveller I would have preferred company). On the second day I was dropped off at the other lodge alone, given no instructions of a plan or pick up time (I had asked as I was dropped off but the boat staff did not speak English). I could not phone the office (as I do not have a Peruvian SIM), could only reach a chatbot online, and the lodge staff was unable to call the office. I felt abandoned and helpless and stuck. Luckily a guide that worked for the other lodge was able to call Paradise Yakari on my behalf and sort out a pick up time, but for most of the day the lodge was empty as the other company was out doing activities so I was literally alone. However after helping me, the guide that helped me call the office attempted to flirt with me inappropriately (including unwelcome hugging), which was extremely uncomfortable as I was alone and in a vulnerable position where I could not contact others for help.

This was a neat experience to visit the Amazon quickly. Everything was arranged and organized very well. From pickup to drop off, it went well. The meals are all planned at a specific time, everyone gets the same food (unless you have dietary restrictions and you let them know) and everyone eats at the same time in a communal dining area. We got to do most of the things in the itinerary but I think because there are different groups they plan accordingly to the other groups and what they’re doing as not to overlap. Theres some free time in between meals and activities but there’s really nothing to do other than swim in the pool. There’s also no electricity on the property until the evening. We did see some animals and I will say our guide (Christian) was so In tune to the animals and the surroundings and knew areas to look for animals. We had a good time, the express tour was enough for me as an introduction to the Amazon. I will say the day of departure they take you to the Paradise office in the city and you can walk around to get lunch for a few hours before they take you to airport (based on when your flight leaves. Our activity the 2nd day was done by 1130 am)

Amazing experience! Saw heaps of wildlife. After doing the 2 days 1 night stay we wish we did the longer stay.

Really impressed with this tour. I had flight issues coming into Puerto Maldonado and Rose adjusted everything, was reassuring and accommodating. I had a brilliant time out there. Made the most of it and would definitely book again through them.

The food was wonderful - local food. Our guide was knowledgeable and helpful. We took a trip out to “Monkey Island,” which is apparently home to 6 monkeys. The trek was interesting, but we saw one out of the 6 supposedly available monkeys. Information about what we needed to have with us was incomplete, and we were pretty much told we needed to leave most of our packed things behind as the boat couldn’t accommodate them. Consequently we didn’t have the appropriate things with us in order to participate in a couple of the activities. Don’t try to squeeze this in as a quick trip. Our plane was late, so we missed the morning activity. The tour operator did rearrange things as best she could to accommodate this, which we appreciated. But you need to build in plenty of time before and after your trip out to the resort. Be prepared with portable chargers as there is electricity for only 4 hours a day, since they are powered by solar stored electricity. We were fine since we did come with that.

Pros: We saw a variety of wildlife, spiders, birds, caimans etc Lovely guide Santo Great meals Fit a lot into the itinerary Cons: Says it's a private tour but it's not, we spent the majority of the time with two other groups, up to about 15 people. Wish I saved the money and went for a group one No WiFi at the lodge or reception Power for only 3 hours a night, about 6:30-9:30 Our guides English was hard to understand at some points, but really nice man

It was great but didn’t exactly follow the itinerary we signed up for. I suspect because the tour started late and something had to go. (We missed the parrots). Lake Sandavol and following night walk was exceptional, river otters to tarantulas. Guides were terrific and food was ok but nothing spectacular.

Our family had a great experience on this 2-day tour. We did a canopy walk, fished for piranhas, kayaked, and saw lots of animals. The lodge we stayed in was great. We really appreciated that our dietary restrictions (2 celiac and 2 vegetarians in our family) were considered and the food was great. Our guide, Miguel was fantastic! I would recommend this tour for sure.

We had a great time. Willian was a great tour guide. If you are going to Peru you need to do this excursion would do it again. Hotel was very clean and the food was good.
