2-Day Guided Tour to Machu Picchu by Train

Our family of 3 went on a guided tour of Machu Picchu with Javier. He was very helpful, attentive and incredibly knowledgeable. He has been guiding here for years and it shows. He is very passionate about climbing, nature and history. We really enjoyed our time at Machu Picchu with Javier.

We had Primo and Samuel has our guides and they were perfect, knew their subject and responded to every question i had. The trip in itself was magical, everything we saw was extraordinary

Yapa were brilliant with the organising. I was booking last minute in peak season so tickets were tight, but they sorted everything and made sure I got one. Super friendly, communicated well throughout, and the whole thing ran smoothly from the Cusco pickup to getting back. Samuel was a great guide. Really knowledgeable about the site and picked out the most interesting parts to talk about. He had a book with photos from when Machu Picchu was first discovered which was a nice touch, and he gave me plenty of time to take it in rather than rushing. Answered all my questions too. He’s also a great photographer too!! Knew exactly where to stand for the best photos and videos.

Very organized and communicative throughout the entire experience. Our group didn't have tickets to Machu Picchu, but our guide met us in Aguas Calientes and quickly took us off the beaten path to the ticket office before the lines grew. Thanks to his planning and local knowledge, we were able to secure tickets on one of the busiest days of the year. We truly appreciated his help. Santiago!!!

We did the Machu Picchu 2-day (Inca Trail and Circut 3) and it was fabulous. Our guide Primo was the best. During the walk on day one Primo was very patient and supportive given the intensity of the hike. While hiking he provided great insight on the trails and the history that surrounds the area. He also pointed out different flora and fauna of the region. His expertise was unparalleled. We really enjoyed the overall experience and will definitely be using the Yapa Explorer guides the next time we are in Peru.

Our Machu Picchu experience was awesome.. we visited in july and got clear skies, good views and amazing pictures of the citadel. Our guide Javier was incredible. He explained all the important facts and history very well. Truly an unforgettable experience.. highly recommend

Yapa was really professional in their work we had booked last minute tickets, but they organized the whole itinerary and was quick with their emails. A special thanks to Alex and Samuel( tour guide). Samuel was really caring and knowledgeable in his work. They took it as their whole responsibility so that we would have the best experience in Machu Pichu.

Great experience! Everything was so organized and responses were prompt. All the drivers/guides were very helpful and were happy to go their way out to make sure my experience was smooth and pleasant. They were all very kind and fun people to be around. Machu Picchu was my last-minute trip but Yapa Explorers made it happen. I got picked up from the airport by a designated driver and dropped off at the Inca Rail station. Then the Inca Rail bus then the train to Aguas Calientes. Santiago, holding the company's sign, picked me up from the train station and headed straight to the Ministry of Culture to secure the admission ticket. This guy is probably the god of luck. We got there around 6:30 pm. I didn't even need to wait in line. Got the ticket just like that! The tour guide, Javier, gave the briefing for the “big day”. Everything was clear and I knew this was going to go well. My ticket was for Circuit 2 at 2 pm. The weather forecast said there was gonna be rain, but alas, no rain at all. Not too hot not too cold. Trust me! It's probably the Yapa magic. Javier is very professional, patient, and kind. Plus, he's got a sense of humor. I learned all the cool Inca history and culture from him. He also speaks Quechua, which is so cool! At the same time, he's humble and grounded. I asked a lot of random questions. If he doesn't know the answer, rather than making something up, he'd say I'm not sure about that. You can't possibly know everything about a culture that's so vast and grand. He also took great photos. He knows all the instagramable spots and poses! Again, so patient and professional!

The tour was very well organised with good communication and clear guidance by the Yapa office as well as local guides, which resulted in a wonderful and smooth travel experience. A special thanks to Javier who was an excellent and knowledgeable guide during my visit of Machupicchu.

What an amazing experience. Highly recommend this type of tour if you are not ready to hike the full Inka trail. Yapa picked us up from our hotel in Cusco and took us directly to the train station in Ollantaytambo. The train ride is really pretty, a wonderful view to enjoy. On arrival we found the person from our hotel with our name, super easy. She walked us to the hotel where we immediately checked in and then had the rest of the day free. In the evening we had a short 5 min meeting with one of the Yapa tour guides to get agreement on timing for our bus ride and tour of Machu Picchu. The morning starts early, but the hotel starts breakfast early to cover you. It was worth the early morning, because we got to witness sunrise over the citadel, which is a very special event. Our tour guide Samuel was great, he is very passionate about the information, and since he is a descendant of the Inkas, he has kept his native language, which is beautiful. We received a lot of information about the place, the culture, etc. I only wish the government allowed people to stay forever, I feel like there is so much depth in a place that was untouched by the Europeans. Samu also took some fantastic pictures of each of us on his tour, which will be wonderful souvenirs in the future. We upgraded to the nicer hotel and found it very nice for our stay. In our case we stayed an extra night, which allowed us time to visit the museum and just spend more time wandering the MP Pueblo town. I had seen some negative reviews of the town, but we thought it was great. Yes, its touristy, but there are lots of restaurants and they have built out a lot of carvings in giant rocks, cute squares, etc. that make it a worthy visit. Our return was easy, back on the train and then met a taxi driver to return us to our hotel in Cusco.
