I went solo on this trip and I was a bit nervous about joining a group but the guide made everyone feel welcome from the start. The Egypt part was intense in a good way. We did the sleeper train and honestly I loved the old school vibe. Waking up in Luxor and stepping out into the heat felt like a movie. The cruise ship had a small pool and I used it every afternoon to cool down. One night we docked near Edfu and I sat on the deck just watching the river go by. No phone signal. Just silence and water. In Jordan we did Amman citadel and the Roman theater. Guide told us stories about his grandfather who worked in the theater back in the day. Admission for Petra was covered but you need cash for the little shops inside. I spent around 45 Jordanian dinars on small stuff. Visit length varied each day. Some temples we did in an hour. Petra took almost four hours for me because I kept stopping to take photos. Crowds were there but not suffocating. Staff on the ship remembered my name by day two. Best for solo travelers who want structured freedom.
Our 13-day Egypt and Jordan tour was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The itinerary was well organized and covered all the major highlights while still allowing enough time to enjoy each destination. In Egypt, visiting the Great Pyramid of Giza, exploring the temples of Karnak Temple and Abu Simbel, and cruising along the Nile River were incredible experiences. The guides were knowledgeable and brought the ancient history to life with fascinating stories and insights. Jordan was equally impressive. Walking through Petra was a true bucket-list moment, and spending time in Wadi Rum felt like being on another planet. Floating in the Dead Sea was also a unique and memorable experience. The accommodations were comfortable, transportation was smooth, and the tour staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help. I especially appreciated how everything was arranged, which made traveling between countries stress-free. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in ancient history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. It was an excellent balance of sightseeing, adventure, and relaxation, and I came home with memories that will last a lifetime.
Could not fault our experience! Hassan and team nailed every part of the tour, from organisation, to communication to support and more…. Couldn’t recommend enough for a seamless trip away.
We booked this 13 day tour thinking it would be packed but honestly it felt smooth from day one. We landed in Cairo and the rep was waiting even before we cleared baggage. The sleeper train to Aswan was an experience I never thought Id enjoy so much. Clean sheets hot tea and the rocking of the train put me right to sleep. The Nile cruise ship was way nicer than I expected. Cabin was small but the deck area was great for sunset. We visited the Valley of the Kings and our guide explained everything without rushing us. The flight from Cairo to Amman was on time and Jordan felt totally different. Petra was massive I walked maybe 10km that day. The Treasury at sunset is something else. Entrance fees were mostly included but in Jordan we paid a bit extra for the horse carriage inside Petra. Worth it because my feet were killing me. We spent about 3 hours inside Petra and it was packed but manageable. Staff at the Jordanian hotels were friendly and spoke good English. Best for couples who want a mix of relaxation and walking history.
This was a real bucket-list journey. The history and atmosphere of Egypt and Jordan are hard to describe until you stand there yourself. We were fortunate to have guides who were knowledgeable and committed to their work. It made the whole experience even better.
This felt like stepping straight into history. Egypt and Jordan are truly classic destinations, and seeing them in person is powerful. The guides we met along the way were all knowledgeable and easy to be around, which made the experience even better. It’s the kind of trip that stays with you.
This trip is one of the easier long trips we’ve done. The well planned rhythm actually made the whole journey feel relaxed, even though the places themselves are overwhelming in scale. Standing in front of ancient temples or walking through Petra is hard to describe. For us, the trip felt fair, manageable, and memorable, which is exactly what we hoped for.
From our pickup at the airport, to the quick hotel check-in, to avoiding the lines for admission tickets, we were so happy to be so well cared for during the whole 13+ days. See the pic of me from our hotel room balcony with the view of the Great Pyramids! All our guides were first class! Many had masters degrees in archeology. Two of them were actually practicing archeologists – guiding our tour on their day off! One of them pointed out the location where they were digging for new discoveries! We were very blessed to have as our tour guides wonderful friendly knowledgeable people including Zina, Waleed, John, Samuel, and Randa. Hope you can also get them when you do this unforgettable trip! Cruising on the River Nile was fun! The boat had enjoyable events each evening after the delicious buffet dinners. A highlight was Abrahim, our driver in Jordan for 4 days. He took us to the 1917 train and other sites featured in the movie, “Lawrence of Arabia.” We got to know him and learn about his family and become friends. He even took great pics of us on his high quality camera and sent them to our WhatsApp. Another highlight was staying at the amazing 5 star hotel resort of Hayat Zaman in Jordan near the famous rock temples of Petra. Each room had stone walls and a natural wood ceiling, that gave the exotic feeling of being in a “5 star” cave. See the pic of me sitting on the (very comfortable) bed. (Of course, the bathroom was first class marble floors and walls.) The 5 star breakfast and dinner buffets were also wonderful! They also arranged for us to stay at a “luxury camp”, with individual cabins with great views of the wild desert (see pic). If you plan to go to Egypt, definitely add Jordan, because the sites there are also world class. And the country is completely safe, cleaner, and with less air pollution than Egypt. And the tour manager Khalid is just as supportive in Jordan as Hassan is in Egypt! And there is no better company to arrange a seamless, hassle-free, reasonably-priced experience in both countries than Great Egypt Travel!
We can’t believe how fabulous this trip was for such a good price! We strongly recommend everyone to do the “13 Days GEM Egypt Jordan landmarks with Flight Cairo Amman” As you can see in the itinerary, it includes all the main attractions in Egypt and Jordan, all admissions, all transportation (cars, planes, train, boat) including pick up and return to the airport at beginning and end, all lodging, and most meals during the 13 days. (We only had to pay for beverages at meals, a couple lunches, and well-deserved tips to the drivers and guides.) We were thrilled to be in a small group (in contrast to other tours with busloads of people). This gave us the chance to talk to our driver and guide and get answers to lots of questions (both about the temples and the culture, past and present). And they could take pictures of us on our phones (no “selfies” needed). Everything on the regular 13-day tour is a must-see, from the many Egyptian pyramids, tombs and temples to the cruise on the River Nile, to the “like new” 2000-year-old buildings carved into sandstone in Petra, Jordan, to sunset in the wild desert of Wadi Rum, Jordan. See the pic of the setting sun between us in the amazing desert scenery called Wadi Rum, Jordan (taken on the professional camera of our wonderful Jordan driver Abrahim). We were pleased tour manager Hassan at Great Egypt Travel let us know that, for a small additional cost, we could fly back to Cairo from Aswan, Egypt (instead of the overnight sleeper train), and gain an extra day to see some additional sights, including an ancient Egypt capital city of Memphis, with a huge 70-ton statute of Pharoh Ramses. We also arranged to have our final departure plane out of Amman in the evening, which gave us an extra day (for a reasonable additional cost) to enjoy Jerash – the must-see largest Roman ruin in the world (outside of Rome). After that, our wonderful driver Abrahim took us directly to the airport. We strongly recommend this tour above all others for the following reasons: 1. Clean comfortable safe 4 and 5 star accommodations – both on land in Egypt and Jordan, and cruising on the River Nile. 2. Excellent breakfast and dinner buffets, with many delicious choices of eggs to order, soup, salads, vegetables, meats, and deserts. 3. Top quality guides and drivers. 4. Small intimate tour groups. 5. Flexibility to add options for reasonable additional costs. 6. Seamless pickups and transfers. 7. Excellent support before and during the trip through WhatsApp. Be sure to make contact on WhatsApp right away with the wonderful tour manager Hassan at +20 10 05002358. He can answer all your questions and arrange for the options I described. He then gives your WhatsApp number to the drivers and guides, so you are seamlessly connected at all times. We also want to add that Jordan is a beautiful safe country with clean air and friendly people where everyone we encountered spoke excellent English. Definitely add Jordan to your trip!!!
Horrible experience. The tour company personal was rude to us and even threatening us. We booked with Great Egypt Travel under Viator more than 6 months ago. After we planned our flight and other trips around the 13 days trip, they cancelled our trip without any explanation 4 months after booking. We went back to Viator and realised the company double the fee with same itinerary posted a day after the cancellation under Viator. We tried to reason with Viator and the Great Egypt Travel but they were not helpful. The Great Egypt travel even rude and threatening us when we asked them to honour the original price as it was the same trip itinerary and content. We had been saving for three years to go to the trip. We end up using two months to sort out our airlines, hotels and other trip scheduled. Do not use this company.
We at The Great Egypt Travel definitely have followed TripAdvisor and viator's cancellation rules, provided reasons for cancellation, and these have been accepted by TripAdvisor and viator . Although we had no bookings 6 months ago for this tour as the clients said (around June or July 2025), maybe the client forgot the actual month of his booking !
