Miguel was a fabulous, chilled speedboat guide. He was engaging, pointing out various wildlife to spot and clearly with deep knowledge and experience of the local lagoon waters and little islands. He answered any questions we had (while offering to do so in 5 languages) while injecting fun into the ride. A really worthwhile tour. You can swap seats if needed for comfort, but if full then the typical speedboat used is not super comfy. Basically because you have to sit saddle style unless you have the one comfiest middle flat cushioned seat. That worked well for our 60-something mother - so no complaints from our family as Miguel quickly accommodated her, and allowed us (brother and I) to move around for comfort. But worth bearing in mind for a one hour trip in case your body isn’t keen on saddling up!

The Ria Formosa lagoon, located in the Algarve, in southern Portugal, is a system of barrier islands that communicates with the sea through six inlets. Five of these inlets are natural and have mobility characteristics. The sixth is an artificial inlet that was opened with the purpose of allowing easier access to the port of Faro. Within the Ria Formosa system, different and sometimes antagonistic uses may be found. Part of the system is a Natural Park but Ria Formosa also plays an important role in the region's economy. Beyond the tourist use the system also supports other economic activities like seafood farms (including grooved carpet shell harvesting) and the port of Faro. The Ria Formosa is also a designated Natural Park of over 170 km² and a stopping place for hundreds of different birds during the spring and autumn migratory periods.
Ilha do Farol is one of the barrier islands that form the Ria Formosa. This island which used to be a fisherman's village, today is a small touristic place where you can find a couple of bars and restaurants to have a drink or a full meal.
Culatra Island is a barrier island located in the Ria Formosa in the Algarve region of Portugal. It has an approximate population of around 700 people divided across three communities of Farol, Hângares and Culatra.

A great trip out around the nature reserve, Fun and informative all at the same time! First time on a speed boat for our nervous 9 year old which Louis took into consideration until she was comfortable. Both kids loved it, as did us parents!

This tour (and our guide, Bruno) could not have been more fun, interesting, and generous. We saw gorgeous islands, and learned about the marine life, habitat, fishing and marine history of Faro. And it's just so much fun to be out on the water! The boat trip with Bruno was a highlight of our visit to Faro.

2 h Speedboot super tour, great explanation and the FunFact was huge, immediately again. We headed to the islands could see the birds and enjoyed the spray on our faces. We also have some great souvenir photos.
