We booked a 2 night 3 day cruise on the Amanda luxury cruise but got bumped onto the Le journey elegance ( they said our air conditioner broke down but we have heard several different excuses from other passengers who were also moved). Was supposed to be a 5 star cruise but I didn’t realize that meant 5 out of 20. I thought I must have covid because I was eating seafood and it was tasteless, but no, the food was in fact tasteless and only lukewarm at best. The rooms looked nice until you decided to use the bathroom where you will have cold showers, and make sure you bring a spanner so you can fix the toilet seat every time you use it. The sheet on the bed also had a rip in it. Don’t use the dressing downs provided in the room without checking it first as ours had a very dirty yellow collar from previous passengers. Bring your own water to meals as they will not give you any unless you pay for a can of sparkling water. My advice is to book with another company but beware many of the brands are owned by the same company and they seem to bump you to their inferior cruises the night before you arrive with very dodgy excuses and it is too late to do anything about it. Ha Long bay is absolutely beautiful but don’t let the experience be destroyed by Le Journey Cruises or Amanda. You can go on a much better trip for the same price with another cruise line.

The cruise was really good, the staff was really courteous and the pics of the rooms showed are very accurate to what is in the cruise. A manager was constantly in contact with us for our needs and feedback and was very hospitable. If you are an Indian vegetarian you might want to ask for a Indian vegetarian meal beforehand as otherwise there are no options for the same.
Everyone was kind. Above all, it was nice to give everyone a friend about the shrimp fishing

I found and booked this tour through Le Journey's website on my own, but as soon as I booked I reached out to Ms. Jenna, whose contact was listed on the booking form because I had a question about the transfer. She was very responsive and helpful, and offered plenty of details on the transfer, pickup times, etc which was reassuring because I was picked up from Ninh Binh and wanted to return to Hanoi, including going directly to the airport in Hanoi. She answered all of my questions and even checked in on me after the cruise started. She also arranged for me to receive a birthday cake and have my room decorated, which was very sweet! Excellent customer service, 10/10. The Elegance ship is not quite the amount of luxury that is portrayed in the photos, but it is not poor or lacking either. It just seems a bit tired, which makes sense given that it's fully turned over every 24 hours. My room was also located right underneath the bar, and the music was quite loud, but also there was a group of gests that were more... lively.... than the others so that could have been part of it. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had plenty of space. Everything was clean. The nature of the itinerary makes it so that there is always something to do if you are interested in that. It's a relatively short timeline once you consider the transfer via tender boat out to the ship, and then back the same way in the morning. We also went via tender to the kayaking location and Cat Ba island, but those were pretty short tender rides. The staff were attentive to help off/on the tender each time, and always very helpful and accommodating with any requests in general. One note that I wasn't really aware of when I booked, but the only thing that is included when it comes to meals is the food - no drinks, not even water. My room came with 2 reusable glass bottles of water, and there was a water dispenser in reception to refill them if you wanted. I expected soda/alcohol to be an extra charge like any other place, but when I asked for regular/still water at lunch, I was given a can of water and there was a charge for it at the end of the cruise. The following meals I brought my own water bottle. For the record, I was asked to write a review, but these are my honest thoughts.

Everything was perfect and planned for perfectly. Starting from pick up till drop off there was no issues and everyone was very helpful. We had the best time!

Our trip was ruined by a traumatizing transfer from Ninh Binh. The driver was reckless, used his phone for video calls while driving, engaged in road rage/verbal fights with other drivers, and eventually abandoned us before the destination. When we reported these serious safety violations to the Le Journey Elegance management, they were incredibly dismissive. They claimed it “wasn’t their problem” because the transport was booked through an agent, despite them being partners. They promised to help us with alternative transport for the return, then the cruise manager promised the return would be with them, but it wasn't true, ans then they ignored us completely. A cruise that doesn’t care about your safety or support you in a crisis is not a luxury service. Avoid this company and their unprofessional partners
Le Journey Elegance cruise was just amazing! Right from welcoming their guest to serving food, rooms and activities everything was top notch! We were pure vegetarian and for us especially the chef learnt pure vegetarian food and served us! Thank you so much le journey cruise for such an amazing experience! 🤩💕
