Great museum experience.

A great experience and amazing faculty. Busy at peak times and well worth the visit. Don’t rush through the early parts. Give these plenty time and you can pick and choose the later exhibits/rooms. We did them all.

Must go see

The EPIC museum is a great way to learn about Irish immigration and the heritage. It is interactive and fun. There are lots of hands on exhibits for kids and adults alike to experience. The passport stamping is really fun and a great way to stay involved. Highly recommend going to the museum. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

A fun, hands on museum

A very interactive museum. About half is history and half bragging about famous Irish scientists, musicians, authors, etc. enjoyed this history; not very interested in “who’s who of Ireland.” The upper floor has a food court, which was a great place for lunch - lots of choices.

A thoroughly interesting museum

The experience was fantastic, extremely interesting and the staff were excellent. It is perhaps a little more expensive than I normally pay for museums but is probably in line with the prices charged elsewhere in Dublin. A thoroughly interesting experience.

Had an absolutely brilliant time. Matthew at the ticket desk was brilliant and helping us out with a couple questions we had. Definitely would come again!

Fun, Innovative, and Informative Museum of Irish Immigration and Culture

EPIC is the museum of Irish emigration, and it rightfully prides itself on being unlike other museums. The museum itself is on the north side of the Liffey River, maybe a 10-15 minute walk from O’Connell street at the town center. It’s a pleasant walk and the museum is near the very modern pedestrian bridge. The building itself has a connection with emigration. The basement of this structure appears in the 1996 Liam Niesen movie Michael Collins. They’ve heavily renovated it into a well-lit series of shops and restaurants, including this museum. The museum itself focuses not so much on “stuff” but on high-tech displays of various aspects about Irish emigration, ranging from economics to oppressive conditions, to the potato famine, to shortages of employment. They start by giving you a passport. Each gallery has a stamp you can use. We thought the system was fun, but it will be particularly enjoyable by kids. The displays differed by the technology they used. Some were sets of videos at different stations. Some consisted of interactive quizzes. A lot focused on the lot of those who emigrated to the Americas, Australia, or even England, with lots of emphasis on influence and style. There is a large museum shop, focused on geneology and name paraphernalia. We spent about two hours here, and it was different, educational, and fun.
