Sonesta Sun Goddess - must book + ask for your guide (Ahmed - Mr Joseph)!
First of all I want to thank and mention my amazing tour guide - Ahmed (Mr Joseph). I truely believe the experience I had in Egypt would not have been the same if I didn’t no have him as my guide for myself and my girlfriend. He is extremely knowledgeable in the history of ancient Egypt but also the country itself. He was very welcoming, caring, funny, accomodating and hospitable.
Each day planned by Ahmed was 10/10. We visited all the best temples on offer for the tour and he timed everything perfectly so we wouldn’t get caught in any rushes from the crowds. Ahmed made efforts to make the tour feel personal and unforgettable. If you book with this company, you MUST request Ahmed (Dr Joseph). He would also provide us with little tips on how to avoid being hustled and when to tip appropriately.
Onto the boat: the ship was great, I was on the Sonesta Sun Goddess with deluxe option. We also opted to upgrade for 100USD pp upon arrival. The boat clean, spacious and welcoming. The staff went above and beyond to ensure you were looked after. The food was great, absolutely no complaints and I have quite high standards. There were some alcohol options but they were quite slim. If you’re happy with a beer or glass of wine, you will manage.
The room was large with a king size bed, living space, tv, toilet and balcony.
This tour / Nile cruise is best if you want to see what ancient Egypt has to offer dabbling in the chaos of city streets mixed with the tranquility of sailing on the Nile.

Nile cruise must book - Sonesta Sun Goddess
I cannot recommend booking through this company enough. I ended up on the Sonesta Sun Goddess and I picked the deluxe option. I was offered an upgrade for 100USD upon arrival and took it. The room was outstanding, with a large bed, good bathroom, living space, TV and balcony.
There were not many people on the boat which was great and it felt quite private all the time. The hospitality was phenomenal and every staff member would go above and beyond.
The food was delicious, fresh and exciting. There was an ok selection of alcoholic beverages however this is expected in a Muslim country.
My Tour guide was Ahmed (Mr Joseph). It was a small tour of 2 couples. He was such an amazing tour guide and I cannot recommend him enough. He had such a deep and comprehensive knowledge of the history of ancient Egypt but also the country itself. I never felt rushed nor did anything feel like a drag. If you’re booking, you HAVE to request Mr Joseph (Ahmed).
One of the nights myself and him went to a local cafe to watch Australia vs Egypt play. He did not have to do this but it shows the character he is and the efforts to make his guests feel comfortable in his country.

Ahmed was Exceptional
We had the absolute pleasure of having Ahmed as our tour guide during our time in Aswan and Luxor, and we cannot recommend him highly enough.
Ahmed is incredibly knowledgeable and brought the history and culture of each site to life in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand. His passion for what he does truly shows, and it made our experience so much more meaningful.

Perfectly Organized and Truly Magical
If you are looking for a stress-free way to experience the Nile, this is it. Everything from the transfers to the guided tours was handled with extreme professionalism. Floating over the Valley of the Kings in a balloon was a surreal experience. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and the history we learned at each temple was fascinating. Worth every penny for the memories we made!
