We were staying in Vienna and wanted to visit Czech Republic, but not go all the way to Prague. This was a great option. Our tour guide, Tomas, was fantastic. A Czech native, he talked almost the whole way about the history and culture of the region. We visited three areas. First was Valtice, an old castle owned by Liechtenstein royal family. We toured the castle, which was beautiful. Then we went to taste wine. They had hundreds of wines, and they had a unique system where you paid by the time and could taste as much wine as you wanted. We ended up spending an hour tasting wine and bought three bottles. Learned a lot about Czech varietals. Second castle was Lednice, we walked through grounds and had a coffee break. Third castle was Mikulov, up on top of hill with amazing views. They had several options for tours, we ended up looking at the old Roman artifacts. Then we had wine and food in the main town square. Amazing day overall.
