Breathtaking views, and an amazing tour guide, made this visit a spectacular and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended

The guide simply didn't show up. There was a train strike, but we had made it into Aguas Calientes the day before. So we waited for the guide at our agreed upon date, time and place, and when they were late, we sent them a WhatsApp message to check in. They said they thought we weren't going to make it so they weren't coming. They hadn't emailed, called, texted or WhatsApp'd ahead of time to tell us. They just didn't bother showing up or reaching out in any way. They asked if we'd be willing to reschedule to 6am the next morning - we could not. We asked if they could just take a bus and meet us at the gate. They claimed the buses stopped working. We had to scramble and found a guide last minute, who oddly enough was able to take the bus and met us at the front. Not the experience I would ever wish on anyone for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Incredibly unprofessional and stressful

We had a private tour for $55pp. Daniela was prompt, answered all of our questions and actually went over time. (Originally, it was suppose to be 2.5 hours and it ended closer to 3hrs). She knew all the best place for photos and overall her English was pretty good. She was accommodating and let our little predilections roll off her back. Daniela said the most important thing to her was that we enjoyed our tour; and we did.

We booked this tour prior to arriving in Peru so we wouldn't have to deal with finding a guide at the entrance, and we're very glad we did. Victor was an amazing guide, and helpful throughout. He met us the night before our visit at our hotel and explained everything about the next day. He made some really good recommendations on when to arrive for the bus and other logistics. He met us again at the buses in the (early) morning, and rode with us to the top. Throughout the tour, he was great at answering every one of our questions. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history, and never rushed us. We had a couple of people in our group that couldn't climb all the stairs, so he provided alternatives for those people while the rest of the group did the full tour. Overall, we left Machu Picchu with a great appreciation and a lot more knowledge.

Victor was amazing. He explained thoroughly, but simple and easy to follow. He was also kind enough to take photos of us in the spots with the best views. We highly recommend Victor! we enjoyed the whole tour. We are two people and our private guide was Victor. He is knowledgeable guide, with great sense oh humour. we learnt and laughed through the entire tour. And he took the best pictures as well - he knows all the great picturing point&angle, he captured lots great moments of me and my husband . And when he explained, he did not just2 talked about stuff, he showed pictures, pictures from books and even pictures which he took! Definitely recommend you to ask for Victor if you can.

This was my second time to Machu Picchu and while yes you can book a tour guide at the top of the mountain, which I did the first time, this guide was far more knowledgeable. He even included pictures and explained everything he could to the best of his knowledge. The whole family loved it and could understand him. He also took the time to point out the best spots to take pictures and took our picture for us. Keep in mind that if you are to go with a group tour, they may not go all the way to the top because others in the group may not be able to handle the steps and the altitude. You run the risk of going to the top and missing the tour or going with the tour and missing the top. Therefore, I strongly recommend a private tour that allows you to go at your own pace and to see the things you want to see versus having to go with the group.

<p>We went on this tour with Victor in December 2017 and are so happy we signed up. We consider ourselves well-read and had toyed with the idea of simply walking around Machu Picchu on our own, but touring it with Victor and getting the ins and outs of what the different stones meant, how they were placed, etc., is knowledge we absolutely could not have gotten with a book or the internet. He brought us to each little spot and explained it thoroughly, which we loved. It brought a lot of meaning to the ruins for us. He also helped us get set up for our hike up Huayna Picchu, which we recommend not for the faint of heart!. Lastly, he took so many great pictures of us! Thanks for a memorable guided tour of these breathtaking ruins!</p>

Our guide met us right when we got off the train at the station. He took us to buy bus tickets up to Machu Picchu. When we got to the top, our two hour tour began. Our guide was knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions.
