Had a great trip with Tony, who was very knowledgable and accomodating. Communication before the trip was wonderful. The company messages a few days before to let you know where and when you will be picked (quite near your hotel). We were given quite a bit of time on the volcano and the lunch was lovely. This excursion is a fun and convenient was to spend a day seeing Etna.
We had an exceptional day with Roberto who went above and beyond to provide insights about Etna, the region and Sicilian culture/life. He was so knowledgeable and clearly loves spending time on Etna so his passion really come through. The winery we went to (Emilio Sciacca) was also stunning and we had a really delicious lunch (still one of my favorite pasta alla normas of the trip!). None of the experience felt rushed and Roberto was doubling as a great photographer so we have awesome memories as well. Highly recommend booking this and definitely would request Roberto if you can!
From start to finish this was a brilliant day. Don’t be put off by 10 hours as it went so quickly. Our guide Toni was very knowledgeable on volcanoes, history, local flora and more. All with a great sense of humour which made him very easy to listen to. We really enjoyed the company of the other 4 people in our group too. To be near the top of mount Etna and see what effect it has had there in more recent history and the to visit the Gorge and see the result of much older volcanic activity was really interesting. I enjoyed a paddle in the gorge but luckily had shoes to wear in the water. Lunch was very good too. All in all perfect day.
Easy top high summit tour, 8 of us (they take a maximum of 16 - two minibuses). Didn’t take payment until the end of the tour, with our permission. Lunch was plentiful. Wouldn’t buy their wine though! Ricardo was very attentive and the mountain guide was excellent. I couldn’t always hear what Ricardo was saying sitting in the back of the minibus, but knew he was chatting about the land and volcanic history. Can you please supply your guides with a head mic. Also it would be helpful to announce the format of the day, and each time when we set off how long it’ll be to the next stop, and what that will be and for how long. Small point though…I would recommend this trip and this company (after much research!). Thank you Etna People 😀
We did the Etna Easy tour with Etna People which was great. Roberto was the guide who shared his knowledge and was fun. Picked us up at Castelmola. Small group of 8 was sociable. Windy drive up to 1st stop to go in lava cave, boots and hard hat provided. It is low ceiling so you do need the hard hat. Then back to drive higher past lava fields to visitor area at 1600m. Short break for toilet and drink/snack. Then transfer to large high wheeled off road buses with guides, this is mandatory after this stage. Up to see where 2003 eruption destroyed the original visitor centre, lava fields and craters. Up to plateau for walk at 2800m and views. Stop at 2003 crater on way down and walk round. Then back to visitor centre to join our guide again. Off to Etna vineyard for lunch and wine tasting which was good. Finally to gauge where you can paddle. Long steps down or 5 euros nearby for lift. Coffee places nearby. Clothes, take layers as it gets colder as you go up. Shorts and water shoes if you want to paddle. Good socks to wear under provided boots. Long but great day out. Don't go to Taormina without doing this.
I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! Such a fabulous tour - with great information, delicious food and wine, and a much needed stop to a fabulous gorge to cool off. Our trip was so wonderful - my now husband worked with our wonderful tour guide to snap a photo of us as he proposed near the summit of Mt Etna. 🥰 A tour we will never forget!
Great way to view Etna, understand its history and impact on the local life. High quality guides, who really know their subject in detail.
Walking boots and jackets were provided which was good. You can leave spare shoes/ swimming costumes & towel/ personal items in the transport which saves carrying everything around. Beach shoes/ flip flops are essential for the afternoon @the gorge as it is very stoney.
An amazing family trip to Mt Etna. The booking process was smooth, we travelled up from the south and a meeting point was arranged for us. All emails and questions were answered before the trip. On the day we met with our guide, Roberto C, who was polite, funny and very knowledgeable, his explanations really added greatly to the day. The views from Mt Etna were breathtaking and all equipment was provided. The lunch at the vineyard was exceptional, allergies were catered for with a gluten free and dairy free meal being provided. In the afternoon the trip to the Alcantara gorge was great with more amazing views. The pace of the trip was perfect and the day full of great experiences. Would highly recommend.
This tour was amazing! We were picked up right from our hotel to start the day. Our first stop was the caves, which we explored before heading up the volcano. We had plenty of time for light trekking and taking photos along the way. Afterward, we visited a local vineyard for a delicious meal and some excellent wine. The day wrapped up at the gorge, where we swam and explored the river — just make sure to bring water shoes, as you’ll need them to get down the river. Our guide, Riccardo, was fantastic — knowledgeable, thoughtful, and engaging. I highly recommend this tour!
