It’s a great way to see San Francisco and the driver told awesome stories about the sites we saw. Definitely highly recommend.

Poor communication on the part of Tripadvisor. There was no notice that the tickets purchased directly from Tripadvisor needed to be exchanged directly at the vendor's business office which was not convenient as they were not at the pickup location. The person who answered the phone at the vendor was extremely brusque. The guide was wonderful (don't remember his name). For some unexplained reason, after being on the bus for a few stops, everyone had to disembark and switch to another bus (happened twice). Very inconvenient as that bus already had passengers and now you were forced to try to find a new spot. Lastly, the description said the last bus went out at 4:30 when in fact at stop #6 at 4:10 pm we were advised that was the last bus. The tour was great, but the vendor left much to be desired.

Fabulous and interesting facts given as you travel round. Only issue was no signage at pick up points where there was no staff, I.e. at Divisadero

The bus was a great way to see all the must see attractions in San Francisco, bus guides were knowledgeable and gave a running commentary the whole way around the 20 stops. Definitely worth the trip

We have used "Hop On/Hop Off" buses in a number of different cities. It is usually an excellent way to get around and to learn about the city. Alas, this one was a huge disappointment. The first bus we had was okay. We took it for a few stops as we wanted to get out and see things. There was an automated tour guide who did provide some tidbits that we could hear. The second bus was horrible! The bus was old, the sound system was terrible, and the driver spoke so fast that between his voice and the inadequate sound system we only made out about 10% of what he said. We took this bus for most of our trip hence missed out on quite a bit (which again is one of the main reasons we pay for the tour!) The final bus we took had a driver who skipped the Pier stops. When we said something, the rep helping people off the bus said "Oh well, it is only a 7 minute walk". That is no excuse! We were already going to walk to the Embarcadero hence this added more walking. Also, the automated narration on this bus seemed to be out of sync with the sights as we noted we had passed the sights before the narration began. We weren't sure if the driver was pressing a button too late or … If we were doing this again, we would try the other company as they seemed to have newer buses.

Avoid this tour. We waited 30 minutes to board while rude drivers fought over customers. Once on board, we discovered it is entirely pre-recorded, not a live tour. The audio is outdated, out of sync with the route, and counts single attractions multiple times to pad the stop list. Worse, the bus was packed, the windows were filthy, and the driver was reckless. Without seatbelts, the chaotic ride felt exactly like the movie Speed. Definitely not worth the money.
