Highly recommend the Foodist cooking class

The experience was a highlight of our stay in Paris. Paulo gave us such great insights into French gastronomy. We learned how to select quality products at the market as well as some helpful cooking techniques. It was an extremely delightful evening with excellent food, free flowing wine, and tremendous company.

A full French cooking experience.

Chef Paulo was amazing. He connecting with our whole group—ages 12 to 84. We learned some cool techniques, cooked (and ate) some awesome food, drank some great wine, and got a chance to get to know Paolo—who’s a really cool dude.

I’d do it again.

I loved the class. Paolo was a knowledgeable and entertaining instructor. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food we prepared was delicious.

Cheers to Paolo and a fun educational evening

We had such an amazing evening with Paolo at this cooking class….and it ended up being one of the best meals we experienced in Paris. I was a bit nervous about having a mixed group…but everyone was interesting and fun and we all learned a lot together. Paolo made the evening delightful with his energy, good humor and stories. I would highly recommend this experience and would do it again with the market visit the next time.

Wonderful time with Luc

Luc was a fantastic teacher! We learned a lot of cooking tips and had a fantastic meal! Absolutely recommend this tour to everyone!

Wonderful and Delicious Night!

This was a wonderful cooking class!! Paulo was amazing, genuinely an amazing chef and person!! You really feel like a little family at the table once everyone sits down to eat. The cooking experience was also wonderful, he teaches you new things but the experience is encouraging and not intimidating. Highly recommend!!

The market tour was fun;...

The market tour was fun; don't miss it if you are able to walk a while. The cooking class was a waste of time. Most of our group of six spent the entire time chopping up vegetables. Two in our group chose to sit it out rather than chop. They did enjoy the meal that was prepared. It was definitely not worth the $200+ price tag. A wonderful dinner in a nice Parisien restaurant would have been preferable.

Bonjour Nancy, We appreciate you recommending the market visit – but I do not believe people reading your review would opt in, would they? Having written this, your review of the cooking class prompted two thoughts: 1. If you ever take a croissant class in Paris, it will cost between 100 and 150 Euros, last 3 hours, and you will … learn how to make croissants from scratch and eat some croissant. If you buy a croissant at a bakery it will cost you between 1,20 and 1,50 Euros. And you will … eat a croissant. Other than eating a croissant, there is no comparison – and if your goal is to eat croissants, then indeed learning how to make them is a waste of time and money. 2. some people say: the earth is flat. There is nothing you can do to convince them otherwise; and most people know not to pay any attention to them. Personally I would not read this reply any further. However for those so inclined, I could not help but notice that this low quality review did not mention neither the Chef nor the menu – maybe because it would show the earth is not flat after all? So here are the facts of your cooking class (as I strongly believe facts do matter). It took me a while to identify when you came to Le Foodist. Based on your clues of six participants, a Viator booking and your name, I could identify that you came end of March, your Chef was Paulo and you cooked the following in the 3 hours of cooking class included in your 6 hours experience: Appetizer: Dubarry Velouté (a fine cream of leeks and cauliflower – with NO cream – with curried cauliflower florets on top, along with some drops of truffle oil). Main: Coq au Vin Parisian Style. A revisit of the classic using the ancestor of the sous-vide technique. Along with a red wine sauce made from scratch during the class. Side 1: scrumptious thin potatoes slices cooked in cream with a light salt, pepper and nutmeg seasoning. Side 2: Glazed vegetables – a wonderful French technique to bring sweetness and shine to your vegetables; with some technicalities added. Dessert: Oeufs à la Neige: Crème anglaise from scratch, poached meringue (made from scratch), caramel (made from scratch). So to be honest, none of the little you wrote makes much sense. But my advice is stick to restaurants and forget cooking classes. Cheers Fred
