The tour with Snow Monkey Resorts I went on in mid September was truly a wonderful experience. Firstly, the entire tour was expertly planned, it was structured and timed well, with even room for some changes which in turn only enhanced the experience, such as arriving early at both destinations, allowing us more time to explore in a more relaxed manner, without too many different attractions, so you can truly focus on the important things. Harry, our guide, was not just highly knowledgeable, he intentionally and passionately learns about the history and lore surrounding Takayama, the Hida area and both sites themselves, providing plenty of information that is incredibly interesting and highly enriching, just the right amount and depth, without being overwhelming or boring. Throughout the drive even, he would sporadically explain about our route, locations which have no relevance to the tour itself but are still incredibly interesting, as well as plenty of recommendations (which after trying, I can confidently say are wonderful). While hiking Kamikochi, he often remarked on the fauna and flora and even gave us advice, which for those who followed worked out so they could see the monkeys in the valley! (I didn’t really listen, and so missed them, but others in our party did). Towards the end of the tour, he also provided us with a small, handwritten note detailing recommendations for the rest of our trip, personalized for us based on our conversations! Writing this review towards the end of my Japan trip so I can do so with retrospective, I can also confidently say that this trip has been one of the better highlights throughout my travels, an incredibly memorable day which I am sure to return to when I come back to Japan! I would like to sincerely thank Snow Monkey Resorts and Harry for providing me with such an amazing trip.

We had a great time exploring Kamikochi and learning about it's history and cultural significance in the region. Our guide, Harry, was very knowledgeable, professional, and a great guy to spend the day with.

I had such a great experience today! The hike was absolutely beautiful, and Harry shared lots of interesting information along the way. He was incredibly friendly and really took the time to connect with everyone. I especially appreciated that he gave each traveler personalized tips for the rest of their trip based on their own plans. A fantastic experience overall — highly recommended!

Loved the experience! Our guide Harry was a wealth of knowledge and would request again. The mountains, volcano, forests, and monkeys were exactly what we wanted. Impressive geology. Harry is also passionate about mythology and has many tales if youre interested in the culture. Dont think, book the tour with Harry!

Such a great experience! Harry was our tour guide and absolutely amazing. He gave us a ton of info on Japanese language and Japanese mythology. So fascinating and a great break from the cities. Stunning landscapes and a must do!

It was very good . We got lucky and it was just my husband and I . However , yoshi our guide was very knowledgeable and made the experience very fun . Overall great tour especially since you need to take a bus or taxi to head to Kamikochi anyways!

Great tour absolutely recommend. harry “potter sensei” was fantastic. Really good. Given us lots of flexibility in each location allowing us to determine what kind of trip we wanted.
