Had an amazing time and our Guide Richie was the absolute best. Highly recommend this tour. Amazing sights.
Hi! Went on this tour with my twin sister and had a great time! Michael was very sweet, informative and a pleasure to spend the day learning about different aspects of Ireland! We highly recommend this tour! Thank you, Michael!
Brian was our driver on this tour. He was funny and informative. He was also kind, understanding, and helpful with my son who was feeling a little car sick on the roads. The Abbey and the grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed the stops along the way as well.
Wow - best afternoon out on the lake. The captain is so knowledgeable and the staff are super friendly. A must do when visitors come again. A must do!
Shane gave us a thorough Irish history lesson. From the beginning with the Hawthorn Fairies through the famine and civil war. Better than reading a book! Well spoken and engaging.
Connemara is beautiful. It is the star of the tour. You get a choice to see Kylemore Abbey or the national park. The Abbey was pretty cool, and probably a good choice in bad weather. There is a place to eat at the Abbey, but bringing your lunch is a good call. Shane was a knowledgeable and humorous guide. He adjusted the itinerary a bit to allow for more time at the Abbey, which was practical, but I might rather spend it seeing the Fijord (which was on the itinerary but got cut out). The last stop for shopping is unnecessary and seems like a throwaway. I would rather the tour be 20 minutes shorter and skip the last stop, or use that extra time for the Abbey and not skip the Fijord.
Pros: The guide was informative, drove safely, and told interesting stories throughout. Cons: The minibus was overly packed, the group was too large, and the entire trip felt rushed. There was not enough time at Kylemore Abbey to properly see the abbey, grounds, and Victorian Walled Garden while also having lunch. The itinerary makes the tour sound much more substantial than it actually is. What it really was: rushed visit through Kylemore abbey,2 brief photo stops by gift shops in villages.,1 more stop by the bog where for additional 2 euro one can buy food to feed a couple of sheep. Other than Kylemore Abbey, most of the additional stops felt like fillers, while some advertised sights, such as Killary Fjord, were only viewed from the bus rather than visited. Depending on which side of the bus you were sitting, you might not even see the fjord at all—passengers on the left side likely missed it completely. Overall, the tour felt over-advertised and under-delivered. It was essentially a rushed drive through Connemara with too little time at its main attraction. Also it took 7 hours rather than advertised 7.5 h ( bus left Hyde Hotel around 9:45 am, back to Galway at 4:45 pm near Spanish Arch). Having extra 30 minutes at KylemoreAbbey would be helpful. if only i knew before: there is a bus 419 that goes to Kylemore Abbey from Galway. Rountrip fare is about 20-24 euro. Admission to the Kylemore Abbey itself is 18 euro. Freedom to spend as much time as needed. The views from the window are the same as on the paid tour…
This was an amazing tour/day! Seamus was our guide and he was wonderful. Everything was so well planned and executed. And Seamus was kind, knowledgable, and funny. Our trip included my husband, our two daughters (ages 12 and 9), my husband’s parents, and me. All 6 of us really enjoyed every minute. Highly recommend! (And thank you, Seamus, for a great day!)
Great trip with Jerry! We enjoyed Kylemore Abbey and the gardens. Jerry was full of interesting and entertaining commentary, and he was an excellent driver. I would not recommend driving these roads yourself! He stopped at a wonderful view of the water with many sheep, an added bonus.
The excursion was an absolute highlight in every respect and is one of the unforgettable memories I have taken with me from this beautiful country. The tour was super organized and everything went smoothly. Our tour guide Seamus was simply great and had so much interesting knowledge about the country and its people, and not just about the main destinations visited. He told stories with humor and also always allowed breaks for rest and observation. The landscape around Connemara is breathtakingly beautiful and I would even book the tour one more time.
